The customer service that I want from this company is them recording my name and address and automatically returning to the sender any item that is sent via them.

"Good customer service is a priority."

Good customer service begins with saying sorry.

I've never had a problem with Yodel.

I order things regularly online from most of the retailers Yodel deliver for and can honestly say I have never had any issues.

As with most reviews though, you will only hear the bad. If everyone were to leave feedback and comments regarding the good service they receive on a daily basis, Yodel wouldn't have such a bad rep. Judging by the size of the companies they deliver for and they amount they deliver its pretty obvious they deliver more parcels than any other delivery company - therefore will undoubtedly receive more problems (and unheard of successful deliveries) than most. Obviously there will be negative reviews - as there are with every company however, personally I cannot say I've ever had issues. Judging by the CEO's interview things seem to be on the right track to achieving more succesful deliveries too.

But those conditions apply to all delivery companies, and yet Yodel is the only one that's famous for its terrible service.

  • as someone who worked for the company for 10 years until recently i would like to comment why the service from yodel is poor...over the last 12 months yodel have closed 50+ depots made thousands of people redundant and replaced them with agency workers who dont care because they dont know wether they are going to be workin 1 day to the next.....if i order parcels from very i would expect my parcels to come in 1 package delivered of 1 driver but no i get 1 parcel on the morning delivered by a van driver then a courier will bring another later then a van driver another later i have had parcels go missin, i have had parcels left in my porch (i dont have 1) i have made a request to return parcels then driver comes and will refuse to take more than 1....havin worked in the warehouse i have seen 1st hand how parcels get treated flung left right and centre....also im not suprised parcels are going missin as the amount of bulgarians estonians lithuianians who work there are on a pittance they theif the parcels to make a livable wage

At least they have a comedy name - it always cheers me up when I see their vans passing by on the street.

I have never had a positive experience with Yodel. Unfortunately it's rare you know Yodel will be the courier until you've ordered.

    Examples:

    Sportsdirect.com

Needed item for weekend away. Next day guaranteed delivery paid for. Waited in, no delivery/tracking info online. Could not get through to Yodel. Contacted sportsdirect to complain and they replied almost immediately apologising and said they would cancel the order and get Yodel not to try to redeliver but to return to them. I was told as soon as the parcel was received by them I would get a refund. Assumed this was in the process of happening until 5 days later I had a knock on my flat door by a random man from a few floors up I'd never seen before who had my parcel! I hadn't received any card to say it had been left with a neighbour or anyone had tried to deliver. Similarly online there was still no tracking info other than it was at the depot. The neighbour also told me that the courier had told him I requested he left the parcel with him and that he didn't need to sign for it! I checked a day later online at the tracking and a lot of rubbish had been put on there about repeated attempted deliveries etc and also that I had received it and signed for it a few days earlier. When you click on the see signature option...surprise surprise 'customer signature not legible'!! That will be because no one signed for it!

    Amazon Purchases

    - packages left in a 'safe place' (rubbish bin on street on binday!).
    - packages left in outhouse...we don't have one...
    - packages left under bush (right in the front garden next to public path) - needless to say by the time we got home and found the card it wasn't there.
    - packages rammed into our flat outside letterbox when clearly they cannot fit, leading to bent and water damaged goods.
-tracking online as 'out for delivery' for 3 days running and when you finally manage to get through they promise it will be delivered on a certain date...then when yet again it isn't you're told 'well the van drivers only have so many driving hours so when they run out that's it I'm afraid, there's no way of telling for sure when he can deliver it!'.

Amazon used to be so reliable for well priced goods and good delivery...now I will only use them for small items and I make sure I order them separately on different days so I can be 99.9% sure they will be delivered by royal mail rather than Yodel. It's such a shame that they don't care about their customer service anymore.

But I think the CEOs response regarding the fact they don't get paid for 'attempted deliveries' says it all really - they will 'deliver' at all costs so they get their money. It just seems they can't manage to deliver when anyone has actually paid for!
