MSE News: Yodel boss: No apology for delays but 'deliveries getting better'

Yodel are awful. They never even attempted to deliver my parcel from Jo Malone and I had to cancel it, which has left me out of pocket over Christmas. What was really frustrating was that there seemed to be no way for either Yodel or Jo Malone to find out where the parcel was - all I got told was that 'we've sent a text to the driver but he's not responding, so there's nothing we can do'. Really, really shoddy service and I'm going to try to avoid anywhere that uses Yodel from now on.0

I ordered something from ZooPlus for my kittens for Christmas. I had the same problem of being told they had tried to deliver 3 times, when in fact no one had tried to deliver at all. I work from home so would have been fully aware of a delivery. They even had the cheek to say that they had posted a card through the door!
Finally, it arrived on Sunday 23rd December (nearly 2 weeks after I ordered it) and so I got it in time for Christmas. Great right? Wrong. The contents were extremely damaged and completely useless. Zooplus refunded my order but they must be pretty peeved with Yodel!
I think companies should avoid using them as a delivery service, or it will put people off buying from them!0 -
Zoo Plus usually offer Yodel from free or Parcelforce for 50p when I do an order which hits the free delivery threshold. I always pay for the latter.0

I've been waiting for a delivery from Amazon via Yodel and have been let down - wasted today waiting for delivery with no communication from them. This (after reading this page and HUKD) it seems is not uncommon when it comes to Yodel.
If I don't want them to deliver to me again, is there a way to know IN ADVANCE if Amazon will use them for delivery for particular items. That is BEFORE it reaches the orders processed stage (when it is too late to cancel).
One idea is, if ordering a few small items, then ordering them separately, 'tricking' Amazon into using Royal Mail instead. Easier receiving things through the letter box as well.
Any thoughts?0 -
I ordered parts for my car in October 2012, I paid the company £4.00 extra to make sure of next day delivery. On the due date for the delivery my wife was in the house all day, but the Yodel delivery guy still managed to put a card through our door in the afternoon, to say he had tried to deliver but no one was in, without her hearing him knocking at the door or ringing the doorbell. The next day we were both in the house and I rang Yodel customer services and gave them the details off the card and they assured me that the package was still in the local depot so I went to pick it up. When I arrived at the depot, within twenty minutes, I was told the package was out for delivery and had been for hours, also the Yodel driver had not put the parcel delivery number on the card, when I entered the CORRECT details on their tracking system, I was informed within an hour that the package had been delivered and signed for by someone with a different surname to mine. When I phoned Yodel and told them the package hadn't been delivered they said they would investigate, but to this day two months later I have never heard another word from Yodel. The amazing thing about all of this is that on the day that the Yodel driver allegedly delivered the package to my house, and had it signed for by a different person, he actually delivered it to a house with the same number as mine but a completely different street name and post code, and he didn't get it signed for, he put it in a wheelybin, I know this because the person that the wheelybin and house belong to delivered the package to me after he came home from work and found a card from Yodel telling him that the package was in a "safe place", his blue wheelybin.
I find it strange that the FIRST Yodel delivery driver only put a card through MY door when he probably had the package with him, and my wheelybin is right next to my front door(?), but the SECOND Yodel driver thought it was okay to lie about getting the package signed for, but then put the package in a wheelybin at a different address then put a card through that persons door.0 -
Everytime I try to arrange a Littlewoods/Very return Yodel never come and pick it up!
The first time they only took it when another order I had made was delivered.
The second time, I had the item in the meter cupboard (advice of this on online return form) they didn't show, arranged again online, they didn't show.
So I mailed L-woods and complained, they re-arranged for a 3rd time, still didn't show.
Finally showed up a couple of days later.

No delivery today, no card left through door, find Yodel tracking says
Returned to local service centre Keighley service centre 4th Jan 2013 18:33 Delivery attempted, call card left Keighley service centre 4th Jan 2013 18:28
so appears driver finished earlier than 9pm and somehow travelled 15 miles from house to service centre in 5 mins.
No answer from Yodel customer services.
So can only conclude Yodel service is very poor.
Dont put up with such inadequate service and use another courier.0 -

Thats what gets me with Yodel, they are a bunch of liars. I am yet to see an honest Yodel courier in my area. They always lie about putting a card through 10 mins before the final delivery time. When I get stuff delivered to my parents they leave it on top of the bins but put that it has been signed for on the tracking information.
I have never had these problems with any other courier just Yodel. DPD are the best always meet the 1hr time slot without fail.0
