As a courier myself who does multi drop parcel delvery let me tell you how frustrating it is that people buy stuff off the internet, are then given a delivery date and all the information they need to then not have the decency to be in when the parcel is due to arrive. They then !!!!! and winge when it goes missing or gets wet or gets eaten by a dog or some other little inconvience which is inheriantly down to people not being bothered being in when they know it's due to arrive! With so many drops in-a-day to do why do people think they are the only people we have to deliver to??? Try having a bit of consideration for others, the world doesn't revolve around you and your own existence! If it bothers people that much get in your car or, on the bus, go into town mess about for hours in the shops walking for hours at a time to probably find that things are out of stock, waste your money on fuel, parking or bus fare to go home probably cold and wet in this climate and waste your time like you waste our time calling to your home to find you can't be bothered to be in! Then you can get on here and complain about your time being wasted! People going on about items being late for birthdays or special occasions! You know all year round when important days are yet you procrastinate and procrastinate then realise oh s**t it's little joe bloggs' birthday tomorrow, order something at the very last minute then moan when it doesn't turn up, point the finger of blame to us like we ruined the big day because people aren't organised enough! We're human, no one is perfect but of the few incidents that go wrong people moan and moan and moan despite the fact that over 120 million parcels are delivered each year by Yodel alone! People only moan and very rarely compliment! All these things can be avoided if people could be arsed being in when they've ordered something!!! Simples!!!0

If that's the attitude of a courier, its no wonder to see why Yodel's service reeks0 -
Attitude? No, it's the truth! People think that we will spend all our time going back-and-fourth all week until they can be bothered to be in; and funny enough after leaving cards to call us they ignore us, then when we put cards through saying it's being returned to sender they suddenly think "oh I better pull my finger out or I'll have to drive to the local depot and inconvienience myself" or, ring up saying "oh I haven't had my product, where is it?" making us like like !!!!!!!!s so they don't have to drive to the local depot because they've took the p**s a bit too much! It's not attitude it's simply how it is! We leave calling cards with our number on it and people ring up saying "oh I don't get in from work till 9 can you deliver then", "no I don't work that late"! Just because people think they have our number it gives them a god given right to ring and ring and ring constantly demanding that we deliver parcels within 10 minutes or some other rediculous time frame simply because they can contact us! Sorry but once again you ain't the centre of existence, we'll be there within a 2 hour time frame if you can't be arsed staying in then that's your problem not mine! Christ I'm surprised people don't want us to wrap presents for them!! They seem to want spoon feeding enough as they can't seem to grasp the fact that we ain't there personal delivery service!!!0

This is with respect, nonsense.
People order goods - and PAY to have those items delivered. Funnily enough, when folk PAY for items, they want to receive them in as hassle free manner as possible.
When you experience a courier attempting to deliver goods on four separate occasions without leaving a calling card or constantly missing delivery timeframes, you tend to get folk who are quite irate and who have already wasted a significant amount of time on a service they have paid for. That's when people get ratty and start demanding stuff.
Perhaps if all couriers did the job they are supposed to do in the first place and which we as consumers have paid for (i.e. deliver within timeframes and leave cards where appropriate) then there would be fewer unrealistic demands.
And consumers usually have to ring and ring and ring... because the depots are chronically understaffed and no one ever answers the phone. I've been in Croydon Parcelfarce depot on several occasions where people are drinking tea and ignoring ringing telephones.
Whilst you may get the thin end of the wedge as a courier, the consumer has it far, far worse because of the rogue elements around.0 -
OMG broughtoncouriers you've missed the point of this thread. You may have your own issues with your own customers, but that is irrelevent.
Yodel promise a delivery date and then don't turn up, and then lie about why they haven't turned up.
Do you really expect us to be waiting in for 2 weeks, every hour of every day, after we've ordered something from Yodel?0 -
And by the way, decent courier firms have the technology to send SMS updates with a 1 or 2 hour window when we are expected to be in, with an SMS response to rearrange for another date.
I have NEVER missed a courier firm who use that technology.
Don't blame the customers when your organ grinder doesn't invest in a decent organ.
Yodel expect me to be in from 7am to 9pm, and then don't turn up.0 -

do they charge the same price as Yodel et al?0 -
No, but they do have a better success rate adhere to their legal contractual terms with their clients.
If I offered to sell you an ipod for £1, but I took the £1 but did not give you the ipod, then that would be breaking the law. It doesn't matter if the original "ipod for £1" was a bargain or not - it's deception.
They also don't lie about their customers not being in to receive parcels (as often).
And in any case, that technology should pay for itself. Is it cheaper to send an SMS, or re-send a courier? Common sense really.0 -

you know much about how these networks run?
Do you think theres a reason a more expensive service uses different methods?0
