5:2 diet

Skipped a week over Christmas as it was just going to be too hard to refuse all the tasty things on offer, especially with the amount of visiting going on. Managed to get through the festive season with only half a kilo gained, which is pretty good, all things considered!
Second fast day this week today. Have had nothing all day, and am about to have spaghetti, HM tomato sauce and a bit of quorn chicken. Have been looking forward to it all day0 -
Hi Guys,
I love this thread :j I've been reading through for a while and decided to start the 5:2 today. It's actually quite suprising how much you can eat for 500 cals! I had one of those extra large cans of Big soup this afternoon. I have a few of them in the cupboard and found that they're all under 300 cals, but are really filling, so that's really helped me out today. I think they will become a regular thing, especially when I don't have time to prepare proper meals. I may even start splitting them in half as it really does seem like a lot to eat in one sitting when you're supposed to be fasting!
Having two constantly hungry boys to look after doesn't help so I'm looking forward to doing it again on monday when they're at school and nursery! :cool:0 -
An easy evening meal I shall be having at least 1 fast evening is a fish mix on a bed of veg. The one I use is tescos frozen fish pie mix 400grams
you should get at least 4 servings from each bag, 90/100cal per 100g. I put mine in tin foil with splash tabasco, in the oven & at same time use same oven for cooking OH dinner. Bed of whole french beans/mixed veg with peppers(tesco) 70cal per 100grams.0 -

Don't think my pic came out on above post. Even better link, 2 bags for £6 (fish) plus gives you the details.
Also gives a very useful bit of allergy advice. "Contains fish"0 -
That sounds really nice, Irony. I'll definitely have to try it.
I'm really starting to feel hungry now so thinking I need to get a food plan together before Monday (my next 'starvation day', lol), as I didn't really give it that much thought before. I'm thinking a two egg omelette with a ton of mushrooms would have made a better start to the day than just going as long as possible before eating!

Apologies if this has been mentioned on a previous page but the 5:2 diet book is on kindle for £1.09.

I've started the 5:2 today too - fast days will be Friday and Tuesday to work around my working pattern and other commitments.
Ate my tea at 5.30 last night and had a few after eight mints at 7pm. Woke up feeling ready for breakfast as usual but skipped my porridge and had a large cup of strong tea with a splash of milk instead, I have a mug shot ready for lunch. Am already feeling hungry but am drinking water steadily to stave this off. The problem is my tummy is rumbling loudly in my quiet office lol
I can do this - it's only one day of feeling hungry after all0 -
Been 5:2 for 3 weeks (mon/weds). Plan meal as least 1 day ahead. Keep it very simple no fussing to tart-up a basic plain day-it's only 1 day after all-.
My reason for posting today is that I'm shocked at something that I thought was 0 calories is in fact, 5CAL, may not sound much but how many pellets or sticks of sugarfree chewing gum do we nibble on fast days to help us through. I've had about 10 Wrigley Extra sugarfree gum pellet things today, that's 50cals on top of my ration, not happy. 1 piece, just 1 teeny bit =5cals
You do realise that chewing gum makes your stomach expect food making you feel more hungry? Give the chewing gum a miss and you'll find things much easier.
"Gum chewing on an empty tank is also likely to make you hungrier since the chewing stimulates your body to release digestive enzymes to breakdown the food it thinks it’s getting plus insulin which mops up glucose in the blood stream (and subsequently may produce an unwanted drop in your blood sugar and your energy level)."

Surviving lol, can't remember the last time I felt truly hungry like this. It makes you realise how lucky we are when there's so many in the world with limited food.
Anyway, had a mug shot at lunch time which was delicious lol, mid afternoon a cup of black coffee which gave me the shakes and a funny head. Got in from work and had a shape yoghurt which leaves me about 180 calls left for later. I seem to have passed the hunger point at the moment but have had a wooly/slight headache all day.
I'm hoping the fast days will get easier to be honest...:)0 -

What's your food intake like normally? This sounds like the reaction people get when they start cutting down on carbs. If your usual food is fairly high in sugars/carbs, your body will really miss the regular sugar hits.0
