5:2 diet

Fasting today with a cold - not as hard as I expected as I have no appetite anyway.
Plenty of hot fluids today, including my beloved chicken Bovril :-)0 -
still here too! 12 weeks of 5:2 & i'm 23lbs down. averaging just under 2lbs a week & i'm happy with that. had stayed the same for 2 weeks, i wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary so i just stuck with what i was doing & added in an extra fast day last week (as i just had a non-hungry day) &, hey presto, 5lbs off last week. hopefully it will be a loss this week too. 2 weeks until we go away for xmas & new year, i want to try & shift another 5lbs if at all possible...
Mon & Tues still suiting me for fast days. i make a big pot of chicken/veg casserole on a Sunday, it's about 1000 cals in total, then i'll have that as my meals at around 4pm-5pm each night. plenty of squash through the day & just one black coffee in the morning (have been adding a small teaspoon of coconut oil (approx.40 cals) to my morning coffee, makes it so creamy & seems to give me extra 'zip'!).
joined a 5:2 group on facebook the other day, not too sure how long i'll stay though as the people posting seem to be taking it to the extreme & using it more like a fad diet to lose weight quickly, instead of a lifestyle choice with added benefits.0 -
Again on a second fast day after one yesterday. I have a lunch tomorrow and out on Thursday so easier to do M & T. I have decided to do an extra week next week before stopping for Xmas/NY.
My weight seems to have plateaued if not gone up! But my BP was down last time it was measured and friends who haven't seen me in a while notice I've lost weight. So 3 steps forward 2 steps back.
Seriously need more ideas for low calorie suppers. We have 2 or 3 which gets monotonous in the extreme.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420 -
With IF, does it count if every day you skip breakfast and lunch, commence eating at about 3pm until 8pm?
Or should this be done only twice a week?
I note JAG, above, said she does it 19 hours each day, but not sure I can reach such giddy heights of abstention!0 -
Today was my second fast day this week. I'm currently off from work and completely without a routine so finding it harder than normal! I'm also not allowed to exercise which I used as a distraction before but luckily I have no bad food in the cupboards right now...0

Not looking forward to fasting next week and getting very fed up. Perhaps forgetting about it for a while will mean improved reactions from my body when I start again next year.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

I've been looking into this a lot more since posting, and am now planning on doing an 'alternate day fast'.
ie: have dinner every evening (around 6 in my case), but skip breakfast and lunch every other day.
This will probably suit my lifestyle better than two consecutive days each week without food (which I did last week without any difficulty).0 -
The 5:2 doesn't mean going without food for the 2 "fast" days. You just restrict the calories to 500 for a woman or 600 for a man.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420
