Congratulations to those who are losing weight steadily. :j
Are you sticking strictly to 500 calories on fast days? I'm not, though I doubt I can be too far over, but I wonder if that's why I'm not really seeing any losses (what I lose on the fast day, I tend to generally put back on, on the following non-fast day).
Most likely because the concept of fasting is flawed badly. Starvation activates hormones that and chemical changes that signal your brain to conserve fat

Argh, well, this is clearly not substanciated by the published research conducted on intermittent fasters , and the 74 odd pages of this thread, mostly made of individual testimonies to the contrary.

What you want to starve for the rest of your life. some people like food and are not fat. when you starve are you losing fat or anything else?
does your research say what happens when you stop the diet? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well I've taken a week off while on holiday and put on 2kg!
I'm gutted. I thought I'd gain a bit but not so much as I've been pretty physical fell walking. But the food every evening was brilliant with yummy puddings etc.
So I'm effectively back to square 1.
Clearly the 3 weeks prior to my hols wasn't long enough to re-train my body into better habits and I did pig out, but I'm back on the wagon now. I've been fasting Mondays & Thursdays, so I've started tonight ready for tomorrow and at least I know I can do it - in fact I'm looking forward to the challenge :)
I've just read back over the thread from last week, and can I say thanks to all of you who post, especially Mado, zmikeo and adouglasmhor for their continuing support and encouragement and sound advice to us newbies - it really helps!
    Happy fasting everyone

Judging by how I feel, I'm perfectly happy to continue fasting 2 days a week indefinitely.
And FYI, I'm never starving. But I don't expect anyone with preconceived ideas and no experience of the regime to understand or accept this.

But that takes between 48 and 72 hours to kick in and you only do this for 24, so your post is ignorant and flawed.

You don't starve, you are hungry but not starving, Do I look starved? My lifts are up and my cardio is much better, down from over 30% to under 18% body fat by US navy method. When you hit your target weight you do it once instead of twice a week, or less if you wnat.

I'm a woman but eat anything between 450 and 550 calories on my lowcal days. But I don't count the coffee I drink, I tell myself this is a long term thing and I'm not prepared to give up my coffee, so this adds another 150 cals or so. I went through a phase of eating everything in sight on too many 'normal' days which caused my weight loss to stall.

My losses are verrrrrry slow. I lost a bit when I started but the past couple of months have been more a maintaining rather than a losing but now I'm beginning to lose again.

For me I am taking the long term view on this. I didn't put the weight on overnight so it's not going to come off quickly either. My mind and body has to get used to this way of eating and now four months after starting I may have lost a miniscule amount of weight however I have had the lightbulb moment as far as eating goes.

Fasting is not starving yourself. Not eating for 24 hours is not going to put your body into starvation mode.

I'm guessing my reason for not having lost weight is that I'm either overeating on non-fast days, or that I haven't given it enough time to see results.

How much coffee do you drink? I have a tall soy cappuccino after the gym even on fast days and it's 90 calories odd - I just count it into my total, an ordinary coffee with milk is only about 30
