It gives me 2975 for maintenance, 2380 for weight loss. I use Sparkpeople and it gives me 2270 to 2620 for weight loss and targets for protein, carbs and fats - I think the maintenance was about the same too.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I'm going to start next week now- was worried with all the talk on calorie counting on non-fasting days that it wouldn't work if I didn't calorie count too. I generally eat pretty healthily but I don't beat myself up over cake... it's a weakness!:o I'd love to lose 6kg in 2 months- it would put me right at the top end of a healthy bmi (25- am currently 27-ish) which I don't think I've been in since leaving sixth form 12 years ago!
Would it help if you knew what I was eating on non fast days? It's ok seeing what we eat on fast days, but we/I don't post up what I have eaten on a eat day.
Yesterday I had, a cooked breakfast at Morrisons cafe which was 800 cals, then I came home and a hot cruss bun (150 cals, with an extra 35 for marg) . I had no lunch and then I had my evening meal which was 2x sainsburys reduced fat sausages 186 cals, 2x small tortilla wraps 220 cals, homemade wedges 270 cals and 2x table spoons of tommy sauce about 40 cals. I snacked on 2x nectarines (90 cals), 4 digestive biccys(248), 2x light hot chocolate (70 cals) and 4 cups of tea (160). That comes to nearly 2300 cals. I did exercise yesterday, I walked with a friend round the shops for a couple of hours and then I went on the cross trainer for 45 mins.
Today I have been for a walk to the shops - I love shopping!!! That had me out for 1.5 hours, I walk everywhere. I've had 2x poached eggs on toast up to now. BUT I know that I am having a hot cross bun later. For our evening meal we are having homemade lasagne, homemade coleslaw and garlic bread and then tonight me and hubby are sharing a cart d'or ice cream whilst watching celeb BB and hoping Speidi get kicked out:D
Tomorrow is a fast day and I will me mainly starving :A;) actually, the hunger is getting less and less if I'm honest.0 -
Old socks old sticks Thanks for that! Have you seen good results from the 5:2 diet with this sort of calorie intake? (If you don't mind me asking- am cheeky!) Am somewhat looking forward to it now as I hate the slog of a diet and the constant self-deprivation!0

I think that the one think I have reduced with the 5:2 diet is my overall alcohol intake. I have always tried to keep an eye on my weight, although it had been creeping up until OH put us both on a diet a couple of years ago. We both lost around a stone over 6 months then; eating less and moving more. But whislt he had managed to keep it off, mine was just slowly going up after each "splurge" (holidays, christmas, and so on) and I was struggling to keep it off. The 5:2 diet has been a brilliant diet/lifestyle change for me, and I am now lighter than I have been in most of my adult life; I intend to keep it that way.:DI lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
Hi everyone
As before, just a reminder, that while this is about help with a diet like any other please do think about what you do and don't do to your body, be careful and see a health professional first if you have concerns.
Thanks

I only started 3 weeks ago. I know for sure a couple of lbs have gone. My weight seems to come off once a month (I lose for 2 weeks and then STS for 2 weeks, etc. Periods ). So I only weigh once a month. But last week I weighed myself (couldn't help it:o) and I know 2lbs have gone:T I'm giving myself 3 months to eat the 5:2 way, if too much weight comes off I will go to 6:1 or if not much weight comes off I will stick with 5:2 and use it to maintain my current weight.
Ask me again in a couple of months time0 -
I'm weighing and recording it but as it goes up and down I'm not fussing about it. I will see at the start of Feb after a month of this if there is any real difference. Hoping so!:hello:0

I'm a little bit disheartened today. Done by first fast day of the week (my third in total). I lost 4lbs after my first week and after my fast day this week I have put 2lbs back on! I've not been calorie counting on my non fast days but have been trying to stick to slimming world principles.
Arrghh!! Last week I thought I had found the perfect diet, now I'm not so sure!0 -
Dr Moseley says there's a big initial reduction through water loss, then it begins to steady. Don't be disheartened, all will be well. :-):hello:0

Don't be disheartened; your weight can easily vary from day to day by 2 lbs.
I also know that I always put on weight prior to my period, which I think is mostly water retention and is lost in the following days.
This isn't a quick fix diet, but a long term one.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0
