Actually, that is the one thing that affects me most during fast days: my hands are cold despite being inside a warm building. When i actually go out in the cold (driving home), my fingernails turn blue. With gloves on.:eek:HOW MUCH ?0

While in tesco's I notices Dr Moselys new book is £2.95, bargin! There is also a website as well which I have'nt checked out yet. I've not read it all yet, but one bit that did suprise me was he said to weigh yourself every day at the same time!!! I have'nt been doing this as I know I would get disheartend, I did weigh myself at 1 1/2 weeks and had lost 4lbs which I was happy with.
I have been jazzesizing 3 - 4 times a week as well. I've done my 2 fasting days this week and after watching The sports relief bake off all week I'm planning on baking Zebra shortbread biscuits and eating them as well!!!!:jHOW MUCH ?0 -
Michael Mosley's website is at thefastdiet dot co dot uk. There's also a new forum specifically for the 5:2 diet which is at http://52fastdiet.co.uk - they are just starting a system where you can put in your stats and see graphs of your weight loss over time - and compare with averages for others.
Most of us seem to achieve about 1lb / week weight loss with 5:2, but it does vary from week to week so as others have said, don't be disheartened by one week's results.0 -
I have been trying this for a couple of weeks and find it good but trying to vary what I eat on fasting days.
However I find that different sites/books/apps give different calorie information for the same food.
How do I know which is correct?0 -

You probably don't! As I understand it, calorie counting is not an exact science, and even if it was, the number of calories you burn will vary each day. The best thing is probably to go with the version that you find most convenient, and don't get too hung up on it.0 -

The M&S fuller-longer meals are currently available at £6 for 2, and plenty of choice at the 320-420 cals level. Tasty too. Of course it's better to do your own really...0 -

It's not so much that calorie counting is not an exact science, it is also that 2 unprocessed items of the same food may have slightly different amounts of nutrients, and hence produce slightly different results, both correct.
Also, it has been shown that different food preparation can have some (small) effect on the energy provided; for example, the energy of cooked food is more easily absorbed by the body than the same food raw. So, the tables and app may give the energy value on different basis and it is possible that some make allowances for the efficiency of the digestive system (for example, food containing large amounts of fibre are not always fully processed).
And most of these tables are copied from somewhere else, so some will carry small "errors" with appproximations/conversions in the weights measured.
So, tyllwyd is right, don't get hung up about it!.

Fasted yesterday & weighed this morning YIPEE - finally under 11st:T (153.7lb to be exact) going to try to fast again on Saturday as I missed one last week & I'm out for a meal on Sunday. My target is 147Lb although I'll be happy with 150 (I'll see what that looks like
)

Absolutely, this not an exact science, there are just too many variables.
Based on what I have read and observed so far, the key is to first get an idea of how much you should be eating to maintain weight and then base your non fast day diet on that. On your fast days, you should be eating significantly less. Stressing over whether, or not, you have exactly achieved the 500 cal target is pointless. It isn't a magic number that has to be achieved at all costs.
Note that as you lose weight, you may need to reassess how much you are eating on your non fast days. The amount will get less the more you lose.0 -
Confession time, on my non fasting day yesterday I blew nearly half my calories on a big bar of chocolate with fruit and nuts, I was shocked when I logged it and saw how many it had. I came in on target but the rest of the day felt a bit like a fast day.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
