Freebies for being nice?

I am wondering how many freebies we can get for being nice instead of complaining?

The idea is to write a nice thankyou letter for anything you have found really good recently, and see if they send you a 'thankyou' for thanking them.

For instance, a few years ago I wrote to Walkers crisps saying how much I enjoyed their fat free crisps. I got a nice letter back saying they were glad I enjoyed them, and a £5 voucher to buy some more!

I am going to start by mailing my local Tesco to say how helpfull and pleasant I find their staff. Even if I don't get anything back, hopefully it will boost staff moral.

Sorry if this has been done before, but trawled MSE and couldn't find anything similar.

Anybody got any thoughts on this?

I think its a great idea, I wrote a letter saying what a wonderful job and how helpful a girl in my local bank was when I had no joy from everyone else. She got £50 bonus and brought me a drink some weeks later when I saw her again in a local pub, so I did get a freebie and so did she for being nice :T

One time when I was working, a chap needed help - he wanted a games console, but didn't know where to start. I spent just over half an hour going through everything with him, talking about pros and cons, games etc. He was so happy he came back an hour later with a big box of chocolates. It really made my day :D

Not freebies to ourselves, but in some places, if you sing praises about a certain SA, they sometimes get bonuses. With GAME, if you had good service from one particular person, they get a £10 voucher for a bunch of shops in thier paycheck.

    Thanks Very Much.

I decided a couple of years ago that if I received good service from anything I would write to them about it and if I received bad service I would do the same. Unfortunately after doing both I have only had one letter saying thankyou from National Express from the letters of praise and quite a few vouchers and freebies for complaining.

I wrote to Virgin trains about some exceptional customer service (- I know, I was surprised myself.) I wasn't after anything, just wanted the people's bosses to know how good they were.

Virgin trains obviously aren't used to people being nice, because I got back a questionnaire on how my complaint had been handled, and was I satisfied with my compensation?

    Count me in :)

I have only just recently sent a nice email to Virgin Media praising the technician that installed my second V+ box and what a nice job and friendly chap he was.
