lily pollen stains

After a total disaster last night with a vase of lilies and a cream carpet. I'd like to thank who ever gave the tip of using isopropyl alcohol I'm amazed by how well its worked. I can also add that there is no point in using vanish oxi carpet cleaner it only made the stain worse.

After having several incidents of pollen stains on clothes, what I do now is cut out the stamens when I first get the flowers and keep an eye and cut any that open.

Incidentally, the clothes that I thought had been wrecked, the stains have miraculously disappeared.

I've just got lily pollen stains on my favourite per una skirt..:(

Silly me, I was kneeling down trying to vac the pollens up off the lino, where I had been trimming the flower heads which were wilting.

I googled 'lily pollen stains' and up popped this thread! So I'm going to try a few of the suggestions. I haven't washed the skirt yet, and am going to try hanging it in the sunshine (wishful thinking!) first off. I am hoping not to have to resort to using white spirit, as the last time I used that stuff it made the washing machine reek for ages afterwards!

Today I somehow managed to knock a full vase of open lillies from the table and they landed on my new grey carpet! It made a right mess in five different areas. Usually, I cut the pollen stems and don't know why I didn't this time. I tried everything from neat bleach, washing up liquid to vanish but with no luck. Firstly, never rub the pollen, ive learnt from that mistake. I believe placing sellotape over the pollen to lift it helps but that was also too late for me. I found a miracle stain remover called de.solve.it. It's a little spray can and to my amazement, all the stains have gone!!! Hope this helps anybody that needs help!

Can any of you canny folk please advise how to remove lily pollen stains from my favourite top? It is past the 'celotape' remedy, I had already soaked in cold water! TIA

Thank you so much. I tried the 'sunshine' method on my 'ruined' top. I'd been carrying the bunch of lillies when I stumbled and got the pollen all over my top. I hung it on the line this morning and it wasn't even sunny till 5pm, just overcast, and I could literally watch it disappear! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, so thank you very much.

After a vase of lilies fell over onto our cream carpet (I know, we were asking for trouble) there was a stubborn yellow stain which was resistant to all cleaning solutions known to mankind. I'd tried everything - Vanish, stain remover, carpet cleaner - but a trip to Maplins for a £9.99 can of isopropyl alcohol meant that I was spared the hassle of an insurance claim. I just sprayed it on and mopped it up with kitchen roll. Job done!
