I sometimes cut the dangly polleny bits off when I first get them in a vase as they will stain anything and everything!Jan 2012: CC £2,340.30, 2nd mortgage £22,932, Mortgage £57,5380

The pollen from lillys once stained the silicone sealant on my window sill. I tried everything I could thi nk of to remove it but noting worked so i resigned myself to having to re-do the sealant. Before I got round to it it disappeared, I can only assume the sun bleached it but it didn't take that long, maybe a couple of weeks or something!0

Thank you to all for the advice above- My DS(x3) had got lily pollen on chinos(x2) and smart cream jacket(x1) they had worn to a wedding and had then helped move the flowers. I didn't wet or rub the stains. Sellotape and sunlight have done the trick perfectly - I since washed the chinos and you can't see a thing on them.0

My h bought me some flowers recently (not exactly os but at least it was a cheaper bunch than last year for which hd got a telling off)
But they were placed on a window and the next morning realized that the Lilly stalks have stained my lovely new cream roller blind.
Does anyone know how to get the stain out??
Thanks0 -

Sunshine. If you can get the blind outside into full sunshine then the sun will bleach the pollen stain. It might take a couple of days, it'll depend how strong the sunlight is, but you should see a difference by the end of the first day.
Best of luck,

I had lily pollen stain my cream curtains and I used Vanish with some cold water and it came out. I was surprised because I didnt think it would work but it did for me. I also know some people recommend trying to lift the worst of it off with sticky tape so you might want to try that. Good luck.:hello:  please play nicely children !0

Hi Benson,
As your thread has dropped down the board I've merged it with the main one on removing lily stains which has lots of advice that should help.

on carpets, my better half recommends using a small amount of eucalyptus oil ...
also works for removing black oil stains.0 -

Then I made a stupid error of spraying it with 1001 carpet cleaner- DON'T DO IT the stains went bright yellow and looked awful.
SOLUTION!! -
1. Dry the area by pouring bicarbonate of soda on the area (or areas if you're as unlucky as me)
2. Dab the area with some laundry powder for white clothes with a cloth dipped in white spirit.
3. Leave for 5 mins - then take several clean cloths and a bottle of white spirit or turps - rub (you need a lot of elbow grease for this) the stained area with a cloth soaked in white spirit. I know you're told not to rub but honeslty my carpet is spotless.
To take the smell away and to ensure to remove the white spirit (which is actually a grease my husband informs me) I then sprayed the area with talc and hoovered up. Long winded but effective.
You need a strong arm to get the pollen off but it has really worked - I made every mistake in the book and still have a lovely cream carpet!
We have just spent a lot of time (and money!) completely refurbishing our living room, rebuilt from the brick and joists up, and brand new absolutely everything...
To my horror, I woke up this morning to find a lilly pollen stain on the carpet (which is a very light beige carpet) from some stems that fell off in the night (ironically they were 2 combined bunches of "congrats on finishing your lounge" flowers from my mother-in-law and my friend!). I sucked up as much of the dusty stuff as I could but the orangey stain was still there. I then did what youre not supposed to and tried to clean it up with a wet cloth and some 1001 carpet spray. If anything that made it slightly worse as it spread into the carpet a bit. I had a similar incident on my previous carpet a few years ago, where I knocked over a vase of lillies off my coffee table, so had a huge wet stain in the middle of the floor with a bright yellow patch. That time i got a professional carpet cleaning company out, who after trying a few different solutions managed to lift the stain out very well, and only charged £40 which included giving the rest of my carpet a clean too - so pretty good really.
But as it was only a tiny mark this time, thought I would read through the suggestions on here and try something myself first. Plus my brand new carpet is supposedly "bleachable" and is guaranteed for 7 years against stains so thought I have nothing to lose really. So I opted for this remedy and soooooo gad i did. It works like a dream and I just saw the stain vanish before my eyes. I didnt have to rub very hard, maybe it was because it was only a tiny mark, and the results are AMAZING!! :j
I have now cut out the rest of the stem thingys to avoid further stains, but now I have this handy remedy I am fully armed for any spillage emergency... If it works so well on lilly pollen, I'm sure it must work on a whole heap of other stubborn stains too.
So dont panic over your lilly pollen stained carpet - give this a go!!
Thank you teacher-rach, my new living room now looks perfect again :T0 -
Just tried to remove a large pollen stain from my carpet. Tried several methods as suggested but just ended up with an orange mess! Then I tried a citrus (limonene) based label remover made by Ambersil and just watched the pollen stain melt away with hardly any rubbing. Brilliant! Other label removers may work, suggest testing a small hidden area first though.0
