Like i said earlier - good luck getting sorted.x
I am not trying to win any arguments but why the hell should I bow down to bullies and nasty people.not all on benefits are scroungers and don't need to be bullied!0 -

I don't see any.
People on these forums in general seem to a nice bunch.0 -
I've seen plenty on this thread, I think it's jealousy in all honesty. Most disabled people would be happy to give up their DLA if they could get their health back4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

you just don't get it.... we are trying to make you see that the arguments you are disputing it could be the same just about any family could put forward, that is that you are no different to any other family. In your case, you get DLA because of your disability, other family get CB because of their children. Whatever the reason for getting these benefits, it IS STILL INCOME!
As for your daughter, I am trying to use logic. If her children are there all day with you, they will be much more likely to be using more water then if they werent, so surely, if anything, your daughter should be contributing towards these costs, rather than costs that she has no benefits from.
And no offense, but a 'day out somewhere' surely is a luxury?
So disabled people are not ALLOWED a day out now FBaby or is that 'luxury' allowed sometimes? should that include disabled children also? does that apply to all disabled people? or does it apply just to this specific poster?
The ignorant, judgemental attitudes displayed on this forum are at times beyond belief.
It is the same posters time after time who 'gang up' and bully...always thanking each other and fawning around each others posts...sick!
Like I have said before 'those who know the least, judge the most'.Disabled people have become easy scapegoats in this age of austerity.

Not to mention that a day out for some disabled people might be a gentle stroll around the supermarket
I know that's as far as my daughter will go at the moment
4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Some disabled people consider a day out to be only a few hours and very local. A trip to a local park for a picnic and to watch the grandchildren play is a 'day out' and brings pleasure and mental well-being to someone having to cope with the unending issues of disability.
Regarding mobility cars...many disabled people need a car to go even the shortest of distances...many cannot walk to the bus stop or endure the journey on a bus (try being in severe pain and lurching back and forth while the bus stops and starts). Many hospital and doctors appointments can only be attended by having a car...due to being unable to walk from bus stops, change buses and also the times of appointments...to use taxis would, depending on number of appointments and distance, cost the same if not more than a mobility car. Hospital transport can mean a disabled person is waiting around for several hours...often in pain, not only from the disability, but also at times from the hospital procedure.
Only if, or when, some of these self-righteous posters become disabled themselves will they understand the reality of disability.Disabled people have become easy scapegoats in this age of austerity.

I don't think anybody is judging or doing disability v none disability
Very factual thread
OP has a reduced income (due to her OH's hours being cut). Very unfortunate - is happening to lots and lots of people at the moment.
Their income, however, is higher than the amount allowed for HB.
So logically the question is then - If income is too high how do you lower expenses.0 -

It always makes me laugh when people say "no offence but......" when that is the very thing they would like to give most.
I wonder, in the real world, when asked for advice do they just give it and leave the asker to take it or leave it. Or, do they keep repeating themselves, getting nastier each time, until the recipient of their wisdom buckles and takes their 'advice'.
A very unsavoury way of behaving and it's a wonder that the moderators on this site do nothing about it.0 -
Moderators, can you please either delete or lock this thread please, there is too much spite and malice and is serving no purpose. Thankyounot all on benefits are scroungers and don't need to be bullied!0

My husband is quite severely physically disabled but because he is over 65 there is no help with mobility for him. He has 3 hospital appointments next week, all involving a 20 mile round trip, and had to visit the GP surgery 3 times last week. Even the GP surgery is about 50 times further than he can walk.
We have to manage don't we?
Life is possible without a car you know, especially without a car paid for by other taxpayers struggling with mobility problems themselves.0
