What would you have told your younger self?

That while I might have had my younger heart set on doing a languages BA, in terms of usefulness and cost-effectiveness doing an engineering apprenticeship would have been a better use of 4 years of my life. (6 if you include the A Levels necessary.)
Moving to London not knowing a soul, with no money, no job to move to and into a bedsit on my own was not a good idea. (Though it has worked, sort of!)
(Oh and the bedsit turned out to be illegally sublet and I was kicked out 3 months later - check contracts are watertight!)Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0 -
Oh yes - don't be so trusting of absolutely everyone and everything you are told. Ask more questions! Check more facts!February wins: Theatre tickets0

Get a job and get the heck out. Leave home. Leave the town. Leave the county, if you can, leave the whole country.
Now.
Run. Run like the wind.
But take your guitar with you. And you can sing, a low voice doesn't mean you sing like a bloke.
Run, and don't ever let anyone ever crush your spirit.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Yes! What a great post :jTo my younger self:
- You're not fat. Or wrinkled. Or saggy - anywhere. When you're my age, you'll know what all of those things really are! :rotfl:
- Cellulite? Spell it 'Sell you lite" (Creams, lotions etc). Recognise what's going on here.
- Be yourself. Your real self. Really. Be true to that real self.
- You have the ability to achieve great things. Go for it.
- Choose your own 'great things' - not someone else's.
- If you have the ability to be a great [whatever], but your personal fulfillment comes from being a great 'wife and mother', then choose what is right for you.
- If you have the ability to be a great 'wife and mother', but your personal fulfillment comes from being a great [whatever], then choose what is right for you.
- tell your children all of the things you would have told your younger self
- accept their right to make the same mistakes that you did, and their right to make their own mistakes.
What went right:
- I learnt all of the above while I still have time to benefit!
- too many things to list (and I don't want to jinx them!):A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Whilst the easy route might seem convenient at the time, it might not always be for the best.0

My comments to the younger me are more directed when I was slightly older and are as follows..
1. Yes, London is a sh*thole, but it is a lucrative sh*thole, and yes, you will cope living on your own
2. Buy the house yourself.
3. Don't be afraid to dump someone. You will not spend the rest of your on your own.
4. Get the bloody bike back on the road and pass your test when all you had to do was to ride round the block.
5. When you find someone you love, don't be a complete !!!! to them. This way, the relationship might last.0 -
1) Be more careful with money
2) Eat better and move more
3) Don't get involved with a man with children0 -
Don't marry him.
Choose a career.0 -
After a long time thinking about this here goes (in no particular order)
- Save what you can - every £ will help one day
- Go with your gut instinct
- Have children when you're younger
- The grass isn't greener on the other side
- Calories don't leak out of broken biscuits
- Look after your body; apart from yourself the only other person who will, will be a doctor when it breaks
- The older generation were young once too
- You can only love your children unconditionally
- Your family will always break your heart
- Recognise when something isn't going right and do something about it
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.:kisses3:0
