    1. Stop wearing the heavy schoolbag on only one shoulder. It may look cool, but it'll lead to years of back pain.
    2. Believe in yourself and your abilities.
    3. Appreciate the time you have with family and friends. you never know what's round the corner.
    4. Trust your instincts. Other people may have good intentions but that doesn't always make their advice right for you. However bear in mind that you aren't always right either!
    5. You make your own luck, and your own opportunities. If you want something, go for it. It may not work out, but at least you've tried.

There have been times when I've felt that maybe I'm not making the right choices, or have been taking a big risk and been uncertain, but I now have a lovely home, family and my dream job, and it's all worked out well in the end.

    i would tell myself :-

Ignore the bullies - you get pretty and they don't!

The guy you meet at 17, he's an @rse. Do not waste 6 years of your life with the lazy, good for nothing, manipulative git and he will leave you with a 4 year old in heaps of debt - SAY NO!

Dad will stop drinking and will stay sober (16 years so far) and will become one of your best friends.

I would tell my younger self:
Stand up for yourself and don't give a !!!!!! what anyone thinks of you.
Don't drink too much, it's not good for you.
Avoid guys who are just trying to take advantage, including my abusive ex.
Beware false friends, they're not worth the drama.
Spend more time with certain family members while they are still around.
    Save money.
    Follow your dreams.

    Things that went right:
Making a couple of genuine friends.
Marrying my hubby. We actually had friends in common so could have met sooner but I wouldn't change that because maybe we needed that time to grow. Everything has worked out in the end.
    • Your boyfriend at 17 is not your soul mate - trust your instinct and don't accept his proposal (it's just embarrassing) and don't forfeit your A-level grades for him.
    • Your mum knows best
    • Always use protection
    • Pay off your overdraft as soon as possible after uni
    • When working and living at home, save as much money as possible. Don't be tempted by credit.
    • Plan for the future
    • You actually DO like wine, tomatoes, parsnips and turnips
    Don't change:
    • The univeristy experience - you will play it just right
    • Remain open to new experiences

I would have insisted that "love should be kind - and that it should not hurt"
"that there was no escape to be found in a bottle of booze from bad circumstances and a bad relationship"

"And that those that don't want the same from life as me, maybe should not be my partner." Don't make do when it comes to love!

I def would have told myself to:

    1. Stick in at school if you want a good career
    2. Dont marry him he is not the man for you, you will find the right one eventually
    3. You will eventually learn who your true friends are, but you only learn that after the trials and tribulations of life!
    4. Try not to let what other people think get you down, be your own person

But I wouldnt change the following
    1. My two beautiful, healthy smart boys
    2. Meeting the man of my dreams eventually
    3. Buying a house from my uncle and making a mega profit when selling it on

    2. Go back packing around the world at 18 like you did but don't get pregnant at 18 by navy guy from New Zealand!
