Today's gem: I must be collapsible to put in the car and preferably in reasonable condition.
Of all the typos to make - had visions of the poor bloke climbing into the boot of the car:D
As far as the 'which freecycle group should you use' debate - all I'll say on the matter is that I had an item I offered on my two local groups - no takers. It went back into shed for a few months. When I next offered it I had a lovely couple who came from about 70 miles away (they were visiting relatives in the area and detoured about 5 miles to come and collect). Had they not had it it would have ended up at the local landfill as they were the only ones to want it.
I can understand that in an ideal world you can freecycle very locally - but what's worse, landfill or the environmental impact involved in collecting ?
As far as 'offered' posts go I can't see there's any harm in offering slightly further afield if you get no takers locally. People might have friends / relatives that live/work/pass through that area.

agree with this. NOT offering it is surely cutting off ones nose to spite their face? Offering it does no harm and if it gets accepted, does it matter that the person has travelled slightly further? It HAS to offset the item going to landfill?Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

Health and safety?OFFERED: old damaged carpet
This carpet has been soaked by a leak and is torn in places!
However I though I'd offer it in case anyone could use it for padding on
boat trailers for example......
It measures approx 1m x 2.6m

OK there is trying to save stuff from landfill and then there is getting some mug to take your rubbish away because you cant go to the tip (or cant be bothered)0 -
