they are going crazy for my imaginary sofa now!!
I'm teasing them, suggesting that it may be taken but if they're soooo in need of a sofa what with being single mums, have loads of kids, are disabled (some replies i have had), i know of another sofa that is going, then i email the one which belonged to my grandad. if they're sooo in need why not take that!

WANTED: garden table + chairs
I know this is a big ask but, does anyone have any garden table and
chairs that they no longer require?
was shortly followed by the same person requesting:WANTED: cast iron fireplace
I know that this is an even huger ask than the last one!! But does
anyone have a cast iron fireplace that they don't want? We are in the
middle of renovating a house and need all the help we can get to keep
costs down!!
My question is... when did ask become a noun? Is this a way of saying that you know you're asking too much but you'll ask it all the same?0 -
bloomin_freezing wrote: »i have actually just offered corner seater leather sofa, just for a laugh. in literally 2 mins these greedy b*stards sent me 10 replies!!
1 person begged for it saying they have been waiting ages 'for one of these to come up'.
Unbelievable.
I was soooo tempted to advertise a 'spare' plasma tv when I belonged to my local freecycle group, just to see how many replies I got :rotfl:
I did give away a perfectly good, if old microwave oven. I'd had to get a new one with a grill (quite cheap at Tesco's!) as the grill on my cooker had packed in and the element was obsolete. Any way, I got around 10 requests and some of the reasons for needing it were laughable in the extreme, like ' I really need it to heat my baby's milk as she can't take cold milk' - felt like replying 'ever tried putting some in a pan and heating it on the cooker plate?'

I thought the point of freecycle was to help others in NEED. I have had a good 10 people ask about the sofa, its in perfect condition, but upon seeing a photo, as its a few years old and the design is a bit dated its 'not what they were looking for' LOOKING FOR??!!! Its meant to be there to help those in need its not a bloody catalogue!
No thats not true, its meant to keep stuff out of landfill, nothing more and nothing less.
I think its much better if someone doesn't want something to say so, better than saying they are going to turn up then just don't.
If you want to help those in need then say so when you post the offered ad.
Tbh this does drive me a bit mad, I often say I am not in direct need of something when I reply to a offered ad, but I would use it anyway.
If you want to give it to someone who is in real need, then fgs say so when you post it, then sort out the replies when you get them.“Pleasure of love lasts but a moment, pain of love lasts a lifetime.”0 -

i know i can be a right b*tch when rubbed the wrong way.
i just don't like people who think they can take the pee.
like when on a girlie holiday 10 years ago this guy thought he'd embarrass my mate by telling all who could hear what'd he'd do to her later. we popped back to our appartment, dissolved a whole months worth of pill into a tiny drop of water then put it into his drink. now we know he was taking steriods to beef himself up, but i wonder what a whole months dose of estrogen would've done when mixed with that? i don't know but we're were young and naive enough at the time to at least think it may put a stop to his sex life for a week or so!!Fight for clean hospitals, C-DIFF takes lives

Virtually all of the members on my group are on daily digest. Apart from them not getting flooded with emails they are less likely to be jumping in on every offer going! Obviously the ones who are continuously logged into the site see the posts as they appear but as most of them are moderated(newer members) they all have to wait until I approve the messages at about 5 pm! or whenever I get a moment.
This seems to give everyone a fair chance rahter than just the opportunists.I think this is a bit of a rare thing though as on other groups, a lot of people are on individual messages and constantly moaning about the number of emails they get.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
What a funny thread! :rotfl:
I've only read about 4 pages though, will catch up on the rest of it at some point
I was checking my freecycle earlier just to see when my last offer had been made (it wasn't taken) and came across this, which for some reason tickled me.
