Believe me, I wanted to but I realised that would mean I'd sunk to their level and that was pointless! Made me feel better to send that though! :D:D:D

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Now me, I'd send that and then realise that I'd mistyped my address when I'd given it to them:o :o

Happy to say that I've had two items off freecycle this month - both of them because mine were the 'nicest' emails they'd had:D - And I also replied to a wanted and had a very nice response and thank you from him too.

Do any of you have a freecyclenetcafe as well - where you discuss local issues/events/things you can't post on freecycle? Every now and then mine 'kicks off' with a heated debate about manners (or more recently the ethics of posting a wanted for a 4X4 on a 'green' site :D )

I had someone ask for tools that I had offered, but they weren't selected for them.
They said they had recently started in the building trade so I made a list of other tools that I wanted to give away and sent them the list. 'Oh yes please thats great' was the reply. 'let me know when you would like to collect' I asked. 'do you still want them?' was the question 4 days later.
Still no reply, too late now as I have given them to two very nice people.
I was trying to do them a favour and save them money.
I did think about sending an email but decided they were not worth the effort.
I tend to say to people that we can re-arrange another time if something crops up and would expect a simple sorry message if it did happen, but to lie about turning up and waiting would really pi$$ me off. I would consider reporting them to the mods if they were rude as well.

I have considered that, but I'm honestly hoping I have shamed them enough that they'll think before they do that again. I have passed the deatils on to a friend of mine who was looking to freecycle a load of kids stuff just in case they contact her too. I can get away with having to wait in two hours, but she has too many important responsibilities to be left waiting like that.

I know that it is not allowed at ask for things on the site for resale
which is why i have not accepted any of the offers on here. My partner
does however run a small ebay shop and I would ask that if people have
videos dvd's or books which no one wants or collects whether they would
offer them to us before they go in the dustbin. Many thanks

We are away this weekend camping and our friends have three dogs due to
give birth. I am looking for any old blankets and Hot water bottles to
keep the pups warm if they arrive while we are away.

Goodness - I've just joined the local Freecycle group thanks to this thread, but what have I let myself in for, judging from your last posts! :rotfl: :D

To be honest, I joined and then quit FC when we were in London, because of the deluge of emails, but we'll see what it's like here.

Excuse me if I missed it, but I just signed up to "web only" rather than emails - is that what you all do, and then look at the messages periodically?

I used to be web only and checked a couple of times a day but now I've got them sent to my yahoo email so it doesn't interfere with my normal emails.

Only a small percentage are rude or OTT .. so when you spot one POST IT :D
Lack of manners is the biggest bug bear, we may be judgemental because we don't know the people and how there were raised, but it still gets to us.
