To be honest, I joined and then quit FC when we were in London, because of the deluge of emails, but we'll see what it's like here.
Excuse me if I missed it, but I just signed up to "web only" rather than emails - is that what you all do, and then look at the messages periodically? We do take a swipe at those who post cheeky 'wanted' ads, and the rude ones. Think we'd all probably agree though, that there are a lot of nice freecylers around and we've all met/emailed with quite a few.
But... this thread is addictive... every so often we stand up and say ''my name's *** and I'm a freecycle thread junkie'' to the assembled group

Of course there IS ANOTHER explanation !
They went to the WRONG HOUSE !
This has happened 4 times to me.
Twice I have been given the wrong house number. A 23 became a 32 (dyslexic?typo?) and an 18 was emailed as 118 (extra key-stroke or dodgy keyboard ?)
One house was occupied and the people were confused by my appearance and request for their dog bed - made worse by the man being called John, which was the name of the person I was indeed looking for.
At the other wrong house nobody was at home and I spent about 10 minutes ringing and knocking before I gave up.
Fortunately on both occasions I had their phone number and the mistake was quickly sorted.
On the 3rd & 4th occasions I was in the wrong street. A mix up over the exact location (2 streets - same name - different districts about 1 mile apart with almost identical postcodes) for one and a misheard address over the phone where an "end" got lost so "xxxxx lane END" became "xxxxx lane" - about 300 yards from where I needed to be.There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93

If only it were, this is a street they know well because a friend of theirs lives down the road (which is where they went after being stood up by me according to their rant), she apologised for them earlier when I popped out for the paper. They have received my e-mail according to her and are feeling pretty silly now. I guess they thought they'd chance saying they did come over as there's always the chance that someone does go out last minute and doesn't say (Not that I would ever do this myself).
I've always worried I'd do that so I actually have a word document with all my correct contact details/address on it to pass onto someone picking up, I'd feel terrible if I sent someone to the other side of town or something accidently.
That John one would have really confused me so much! And I'd have been blushing/laughing about it for years to comeThe "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Isnt freecycle amazing, although I havent had any luck yet, just managed to pick up an old hoover that blew out dust
Someone offered three packets of crisps the other day on my one of my freeecycle groups the other day - reason being they didnt like the flavour!
Not exactly environmentally friendly if you have to drive somewhere to pick them up!
