If I was a mod I would edit these type of messages insisting that manners were used. They seem very keen on location location but what about mannners too.

i agree entirley, i got something off freecycle last week, and was told i'd been picked because mine was the only message that had any manners in it, and they didn't want to pass something on to someone who just pipes up "i want it" or "when can i collect"

manners cost nowt and get you a long way.

i feel a bit guilty, had a sort out yesterday, but can't be bothered with freecycle again this week, so have bagged it for the charity shop (it is all saleable stuff). somehow i just can't face the hassle of it all.

Don't! At least they can make some money out of the stuff. Thats good news!

I'm sorely tempted to drag some stuff into town for the charity shop today. Thought I'd have got rid of the kids stuff now I mentioned earlier in the thread but someone asked for it - only one person and very rudely, but in desperation to get rid of it I said yes and they never turned up. I waited in two hours getting more and more mad.

I've now reoffered and all I keep getting is those half sentences mails saying I'll have it where are you. No, no they won't have it, I'm tired of being stood up by strangers that I'm giving stuff to!

 Not in a good mood due to that, lets pray a nice freecycler wants this stuff, otherwise off to the charity shop it goes. I need the space! Thought I'd have had my hands bitten off for (mostly new) childrens stuff!

personally i think all boards should have a name and shame policy, if people don't turn up, and don't let you know, they should be named, then others can avoid the same fate.

i had someone meant to be coming to collect an item i offered to a wanted pos, we agreed monday, as they couldn't make it til then, just had an email in to say they called sat night, but as i wasn't in, so they couldn't collect. seem quite annoyed and have asked me to "confirm" i will actually be in tonight. saturday was never mentioned, and if it had of been i'd have told them i was out.

See when I get offered items I don't do stuff like that, you be very nice, polite and courteous surely because you are basically being given a gift by a stranger?! I'd quote the e-mail they sent saying they couldn't come until Monday in an e-mail to them and state that as that was the time "confirmed" you carried on with your normal life which doesn't involve being in 24/7 in case people change their minds! Though of course you may want to be more polite than that (I wouldn't though, not after the two hour wait yesterday that meant I couldn't do my shopping and had to have toast for two meals).

nor would i if i was you either. that sort of thing does my head in, especially if they don't even apologise or anything.
i've sent an email saying i'll be in for a half hour period this evening, and they can collect then, as agreed. waiting for a response. but after that email, i'm not bothered if they don't come, cos if they do they'll get short shrift at the front door.

Oh mine's just gotten so funny. Apparently mine DID come to collect, but I stood them up and wasn't in and they were banging on the door for 20 minutes. REALLY, well I must've become deaf and blind as I was in the room next to the front door by the window the whole time bored out of my mind! God these people are idiots, they want to come pick it up now and I'm not ashamed to say they're just gotten a very rude reply, lying sods! Blocked their e-mail from my inbox too, so they can try and annoy me further but it won't work!

That sounds more than fair to me, who turns up at someone they don't knows house when it wasn't agreed for then. Some people will only open the door when they know someone they have invited is coming for safety!
