I have just recieved this message from the now ex-freecycle moderator of xxxxxx xxxxx
I always thought it was run by volunteers
How many hours i have given up for these people:mad:
My decision to leave was a good one then :)
More detailed than the message I received but basically the same.
When you hear about this sort of thing it must make most decent mods think about re-badging what they are doing to break away from freecycle but continue the recycle cause.

    EDIT: to remove location

On a different note, I advertised an buggy that has hardly been used.

I got 3 e mails from the same person. The first two said she was desparate for it then the 3rd started asking questions about colour etc.

    what gives I wonder?

My thoughts too - It jarred with me so all the e mails got deleated.

I'll offer it again or wait for a wanted ad. I find that wanted ads tend to focus on items specifically needed.

That's my experience too! Every single post is moderated.

It's amazing how many "item X has gone" posts there are without a corresponding post offering the item in the first place!

Obviously you lot can't be trusted - I'm on several groups and 99% of all posts go straight on. I can post any time of the day or night and all my posts appear instantly.

As for mods getting first dibs - this is totally untrue.

Regards Taken posts and no corresponding Offer post ?
This is probably because the original poster has deleted it.
I know several posters that do this - I do it myself.
Having posted an OFFER, and had sufficient responses, I post a TAKEN and delete my original offer post.
Stops needless further emails filling my inbox from those that would have seen the offer but not the taken (or would reply on the off chance anyway)

if you really think this is the case, contact freecycle directly on the home page for freecycle (not your local area home page) and tell them about it, they will look into it for you,

Get a life, your comments cause damage to a reputable cause! I own and run Croydons freecycle group, i can let you know the above statement is false, Only first posts by members are screened, so as to ensure they use the correct posting format, thereafter all posts go straight through to group, so there is no filtering, so as we get the good stuff. As a matter of fact, a lot of owners/moderators dont even reply to offers, they just give up their valuable freetime, which takes many many hours a week, providing this free service for our communities and the benefit of the planet!

Basically everything in your statement is false & malliscous
in your group that may be true, but in our group its most people are moderated. 99% of posts on our board are moderated. you only get messages in groups all coming through at once. unless they are from a mod in which case they turn up in ones. i agree though a lot of mods don't get first pick, and anyways i always say i'll wait 24 hours, so that stops any i'll get in first people, and lets everyone get a chance.
