One of the best jokes my (aged 20 something) kids played was with one of those advertising leaflets for Family Credit which looked like printed money. They cut out one, folded it to look like currency, wedged it under a car tyre and scattered a few 1p an 2p coins around it. They then went into their gran's bedroom and videoed people stopping to try and pick it up. Instant candid camera. The funniest was a couple we all knew to be extremely frugal. 'Mr and Mrs Tightwad'. I hope we frugal folk don't all come over as quite that eccentric. I never saw the video but the kids still laugh about it when they get together.

My aunt used surgical tape instead of string for the roast. She worked as an auxiliary at a local hospital and used to get this stuff, she used it for everything.
Oddly enough we never went for lunch, any day of the week, especially after her chicken sandwich episode. They tasted lovely but spitting the bones out politely was one of life's challenges.
She is now a little older and frailer, so when she has guests she gets in ready made platters from the supermarket (thank heavens). This way we don't need to visit the clinic for e coli screening afterwards.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
