Thought about opening one, did all the paperwork and went into the Canary Wharf branch. Got told the offer expired last Friday... oh well...

That's strange, as Barclays are still advertising the Tax Beater ISA on their webpage. I think your branch has got it wrong.

Thought the same myself, as I only filled in and printed the form off the website last night. Even asked him that but he seemed insistent.
Then again, they do have that clause where they can pull the offer anytime they want, and given the demand, it seemed like a sensible decision on their behalf to me.

Well, just looked and online it shows my deposit dated today :j As this is meant to be a 2006/2007 ISA i hope they havn't ballsed up  (So no backdating by the looks of it)

Interestingly, I have current account with them as well, yet online if you try and transfer money, it says:

Whats an isa if not a savings account :rotfl:

Barclays have my £1200 deposit for this years ISA which I gave them on the 5th April (they knew it was for thes year.) The cheque hasn't been deposited yet according to my current account balance. I have decided to open an Egg one instead and cancel my Barclays one under the 14 day rule (which I assume I can't actually do until they open the account?).
What Barclays telephone number do I need to cancel the ISA when the time comes?

This sounds like a PR fiasco for Barclays, but on the positive side (if they do backdate interest to the date I gave them the cheque) I'm earning interest twice while they're playing catchup on their backlog. The £3000 is earning interest in the Barclays ISA (where it's supposed to be) and also in my Alliance and Leicester current account (where it actually is). :rotfl:

You better not to close it....because your £1200 might count this year allowance if they did open your ISA.
