The reason it is 800 posts long is because it is a hot topic, it is to be expected. You added yet another post to it and didn't even answer them, you would have been better just not replying. 5 posts later someone did answer their question, because you had not.
People may not be able to use the search facility -they may not have the know-how and you did not make the user aware of the "search this thread" link. You said they should "read through the thread" over 800 posts 80 pages, with a slow computer do you realise how long that would take?
If you insist on thinking that you have done no wrong and will continue to reply in this way, then at least have the decency to inform them of the "search this thread" link and show them how easy (allegedly) it is to use.... with a link to the search results..... then, atleast, you will know for yourself how helpful, or not, your advice has been.

As you can see I only got 3 results, one of which does answer the question - sort of.0 -
It's not being unhelpful. The question posed had been posed umpteen times and people had gone to the trouble of answering it, umpteen times. These threads have a search facility, specifically created to make it somewhat easier to hone in to what you want to find. There is nothing unreasonable about expecting people to try. As somebody else pointed out, the reason that the thread is 800+ posts long is in part due to the same point being answered, and with the same resolution, umpteen times.
That's true. But also due to annoyed posters who tell others to look through the thread!0 -
I am with Steve_xx - - there is nothing wrong with expecting that people look through threads, if necessary with the help of the search function.0
-
But what is the point of telling them so? and thus putting a useless post onto the thread which can appear to be rude and which is unhelpful. When you know someone with a different attitude to life will eventually come along and answer the query.0

It was covered by me - but I'm not searching through 40+ pages for it
ThanksYou assume correctly. It takes 3 or 4 days to complete the process.
I've now gone through the process, but PayPal showed up in the DD section before the deposits had been made and I had verified them with PP.You don't have to transfer any money, but several of us have done so, using £1 transfers just so the DDs are shown as being in use. There is nothing in Lloyds T&C requiring this though.
Thanks. I've set up a couple of transfers which haven't gone out yet. However I have received a letter from Tesco asking for documentary evidence (original bank statements) to prove that the Lloyds accounts are mine...

I don't think that's a problem. The setting up process is a bit cumbersome thoughThanks. I've set up a couple of transfers which haven't gone out yet. However I have received a letter from Tesco asking for documentary evidence (original bank statements) to prove that the Lloyds accounts are mine...

Hope it all works for you.0 -
If you opened them in branch or over the phone, then the account should be fully open by the time you leave the branch or end the phone call (they'll give you the account number there and then for setting up the DDs)
If you opened them online, then it could take 7 - 10 days for "processing". Longer if they can't validate your address/etc.
I opened my third account on Saturday and get all the usual paperwork junk this morning. Kept one a4 sheet, shredded the rest.
Hi,
Thanks for answering my question. I opened all three online, a day or two apart each.. so it seems I've made a boo boo.
Had a letter on Saturday to say they are processing the first.. I am guessing by the time these are open and the direct debits active I'll have missed out.. how annoying..
Does anyone know if there is any way I could speed up the process?
Thanks again in advance!0 -
Just a quick one, if you're registering for online banking with Tesco, you'll need to call their Online Help Centre on 0845 300 3511 and ask for a temporary security number.
Make sure you ask them for two numbers, one for each of the accounts you're setting up.
I only asked for 'a number' assuming that all my accounts would appear under one online identity. But no, only one account has shown up and I've had to call back and wait a few more days for the next one.
Apologies if this has already been covered.0 -
You could try going into a branch and keeping quiet and ask to open 3 new accounts,
If they don't see them already applied for they will open the 3 for you
If they do see them they might say 'oh wait a minut whats this' and you could say oh yeah I wanted to see if you could tell me the account numbers or speed up the opening process.
You had better get your skates on with regard to the direct debits.
I think the DD setup by 31st Oct requirement is stupid, they should just say you won't get your 4% interest until you do have the DD set up.0 -
I went into a branch yesterday to switch over some DDs. The customer service rep (who I think was the branch manager actually) switched the 'tariff' value on the relevant accounts to reflect the increased rates there and then. This was before, presumably, the switched DDs have become 'active'.
I phoned up the customer service centre after the visit and they confirmed the interest rates had been raised.
Perhaps easiest to go to the branch. He also said there was talk about the offer period being extended.0
