Unless your parents have their own 123, you could pay their bills with DDs from your 123?

Has anyone else been asked to take forms of identification to BoS in order to open accounts? I'm puzzled as we've been with Lloyds for years and have a Halifax Clarity card. Also, I've had no problems opening accounts with other organisations on-line. Our nearest Halifax is some distance away and not somewhere I'd normally go!!!

Good suggestion, but far too much effort of who owes what to who for a few quid. Would rather spend more time on energy working harding and bringing in a higher income.

When I opened my BoS Vantage accounts, I also had current accounts with Halifax and Lloyds. During the application process, over the phone, the BoS adviser specifically asked me if I held any accounts with Halifax. They took down my Halifax debit card number and that was all the verification they needed.

Phone them up and explain that you've got a Halifax account - they probably just haven't managed to link you to your existing profile.

Has anyone else been thinking their interest is a bit low on their 4% £7,000 balance, my balance has been just over £7,000 all month & my interest going in today was £16.64 which is £20.68 - I reckon that should be nearer £26 - last couple of months were well under as well, anyone else been having problems or are suspicious of a miscalculation? this 4% deal doesn't end til October does it

You only get 4% on interest up to £6000 ;)

It's about £16 ish per month

The last £1000 has been wasted....

Thanks, I've been a clown all this time haven't I thinking we could earn interest up to £7,000 - yes you're right - at £6,000 it works out right
  • I found myself unusually awash with cash yesterday, a bond had matured on Saturday and as a "valued" customer I did not want to avail myself of 1.8% gross for the next couple of years which they had so generously offered me. Being a "valued" customers of Lloyds with currently only one Vantage account I decided to open another 2. I'm on holiday until Thursday so I popped into my branch this morning, interview req'd, everybody on holiday, no vacancies until next week. Went to another branch, same story. Third branch, success, pop back in an hour and someone will see you which I duly did. Advisor did his utmost to talk me out of my intentions. I am aware that nobody wants our cash nowadays with funding for lending but his reasoning ran along the following lines, w.e.f. the 9th of September his branch will become part of the T.S.B. group while my account holding branch will be Lloyds. This could cause a "conflict". I explained that the monthly £1k funding requirement will be from an external source, (well for a couple of seconds anyway) but he persisted saying that under the T.S.B. regime, the T + Cs could be changed at any time. I won in the end but wondered if there could be any truth in his assertions ?
