After following this thread for a while I thought I'd share our experience with Nationwide. Applied in branch on 3rd September and got the offer text on the 15th.

We were borrowing well within their limits and already bank with NW but even the mortgage advisor seemed surprised when she called to let us know.
  • Our application went through within 2 weeks exactly. Not bad! Now Im waiting for the offer to be sent in the mail and to the solicitor. Then I have no idea what the process is! I think the estate agent gives the solicitor a draft contract, is that right?
  • I got my offer in writing yesterday so thats all in place. Surveys are all done bt I got an email on friday saying the vendors solicitors has said the vendors havent sent off all their paperwork back to them yet. So we are held up waiting for that. My solicitor wants to exchange in 3 weeks bt im concern this could be pushed back now and as my solicitor goes on holiday in 5 weeks im worried. Does things move quickly like whats left to do?? We have our mortgage in writing, surverys r done and searchs are waiting to be done for land registry ect. Also once we exchange the vendor cant pull out can he?? xxx
  • All of our searches were done we signed contracts Friday and complete a week on Friday. We were told o keep ringing them everyday
  • I applied for a re-mortgage with the Nationwide on the 24th July
survey and solicitors checks all came through.

I have had to phone them 5 times to find out what is happening and still dont know.

My husband is self employed and I do his self assessment for him online. They will not accept the receipts that you download online.
I have phoned HMRC for the form Nationwide want and they refer me back to the online calulation as the form Nationwide want is only available if you do paper return. I am going round in circles. They keep telling me they are waiting on reply from our accountant which is ironic as I told them when we started the application we did not have one. I am a book keeper so do my husbands books.

I asked if it was possible to do the mortgage on my salary alone as I earn more than my husband and according to the calculator I can get twice the amount that I have applied for.

I have not once had a text, letter or phone call from the Nationwide very shoddy business if you ask me

I have emailed the complaints department this evening regarding my problem. The next letter will be to the banking ombadsman

that is because you can still edit your SA302's online. the bank would need confirmation that they are the final figures.
HMRC wouldn't tell you to get them online, if you ask them they will provide you with the last 2 years with a covering letter as required.

Thought I would phone my local tax office and not the helpline. They are going to send out the SA302 that I need
  • We have had terrible service from the Nationwide. Avoid at all costs!! We had a mortgage offer (7 weeks start to finish) but unfortunately the sale fell through. Found a new property but the Nationwide wanted us to re-apply for a mortgage for the new property!? Even though the amount we want to borrow was the same and all our checks etc had been done!!!! We are now in week 7 of applying for the 2nd mortgage, and all the Nationwide are doing is throwing obstacles in our way. Still no further forward. Shocking customer care. The most frustrating thing about this whole process is that our 1st mortgage is still valid for our original property!??? Nothing has changed!

    Extremely fed up now.
  • Nationwide removed their offer on my case. Really upset. I got mortgage approved within 1 week, all so fast and nice, but they removed their offer. So I'm unimpressed.
