  • Congratulations on your offers, that's great news :)

Our valuation was done yesterday and we had an email the same day to say that it was satisfactory. Hopefully it won't be too much longer now before we hear whether we've been accepted! Though I have a funny feeling that the next time we hear from them it will be a request for more documents...

yeah they requested 1 doc after the valuation. I hadnt heard anythigng for a while but my broker was on the case. He had to escalate it with a manager as they initially told him they needed nothing after telling me they need proof of child benefit. So they had wasted time messing about. After it was escalated it was resolved the next day so hats off to my broker for sorting it. Im a FTB so not sure what other banks are like but overall havent encountered any major issues.

Just want to share some of my good experience with Nationwide mortgage. I am FTB with 10% deposit. Applied via broker.

Initial check with broker 23.01.2013 - product reserved
Full application submitted 24.01.2013 - text from Nationwide received
Successful valuation 25.01.2013 - text from Nationwide received
Formal offer issued 01.02.2013 - text from Nationwide
    Formal offer in post 07.02.2013

Rest to do with solicitor and seller:

    Contract exchanged on 01.03.2013
    Completion day on 15.03.2013!

    Well done Nationwide!
  • So far, ours has been:

    DIP 16th Jan
    Offer accepted 17th Jan
    Full application submitted 20th Jan
    Valuation/HBR 4th Feb
Issues found with valuation 6th Feb
Solution to issues implemented 21st Feb
Updated valuation received and accepted 6th March
Formal mortgage offer issued 6th March

Taken a lot longer than I would have hoped, but on the final stretch now and will finally have our first home we own soon!

We are going for the NewBuy 95% and using an independent financial advisor who has been a family friend for a long time. He's been great and has been doing this for 20 years so is very knowledgeable.

    27th Feb - DIP
    1st Mar - Application sent

He chased them yesterday and they told him they were referencing, he now thinks they'll go for valuation Tuesday/Wednesday and offer Friday/Monday.

The process for me has been so long! I met my partner 2 years ago, and at that point I was up to my eyeballs in debt from an ex partner and 4 years at uni as a single parent. I decided at that point I needed to sort everything out QUICKLY and had landed my first well paid job since graduating, so I went on a mad mission working full time and freelancing and paid off the £12k of debt in 6 months. Then we moved in together and its been another crazy year of saving £16k for the house deposit / fees. I never imagined it would be so expensive, especially with the upfront £390 nationwide charged us!

My other half is a police officer, so not a lot of opportunity for extra work...where as I'm a web designer so I've literally worked 2 jobs for the past 18 months to get us to this point.

I'M SO TIRED!!!! Really just can't wait to be at the day where we put the keys into the door of the home we own. Its been an exhausting and difficult process, and has definitely put a strain on our relationship. I know it will be worth it in the end, just want the next week to be over and done with.

They came back to us today with a lower mortgage offer....£36k less than what we need because they said there's a discrepancy on the credit report.

It might be that there's a higher balance on my credit card now that we've put the full application through since we've bought some new furniture.

We think the likelihood is that they are counting my partner's car lease as credit, even though he can give it back at any time. He won't because he needs it, so we are going to speak with them tomorrow and find out what our options are.

    I'm devastated tonight!!

It's funny, I've been really unhappy in my job recently and I said to my partner...if this mortgage doesn't happen I think its fates way of telling me to buy a cheaper property and start my own business.

Obtained DIP in December but a new build so had to wait until now to put in full application.

    Full application submitted on 5/3/13

Valuation booked on the same day for 11/3/13

    Asked for:

    P60
    Most recent payslip
    Proof of identity
    Proof of address.

All income checks have been confirmed as fine to broker and NW apparently only waiting for valuation to be returned tomorrow so fingers crossed will move to full offer if this is satisfactory.

Very impressed with NW so far and my mortgage case manager from broker who has chased and given me an update daily.
  • My timeline so far:

    07/03/13 offer accepted on house
    08/03/13 DIP provided
    08/03/13 Full application
    11/03/13 Valuation booked
    12/03/13 Valuation satisfactory

Just waiting on the offer now. I'm so nervous waiting on the text/ approval.

    Impressed with Nationwide so far.
