However, my annoyance is not that all the events are sold out, rather than the website makes you think you may get a ticket, and you spend 3 days (see above post) trying to get them, only to be disappointed each time.
It's natural that people will be more interested when the event has started.
i live in the Lea Valley, ten minutes by bike from the Canoe Slalem. They razored hundreds of trees in this local beauty spot, took away our picnic and parking areas and fenced off all around the venue 18month ago. Locals are certainly NOT welcome there - local people I knew coudl not get tickets. For this reason I was very ANTI Olypics for a long time.
I can now see SOME positives but I reserve true judgement for the coming years to see what happens to these venues....I've heard they will charge £50 to go round the canoe slalem.....hmm...
You could well be right about the environmental damage done but I can definitely assure you that plenty of canoe tickets have been available. However I imagine that people didn't get anything in the first ballot (I didn't) or much in the second (I got one event) and then gave up (certainly that's what has happned to friends of mine). But tickets have been released almost every day since the third major release (which was on May 23rd). I've got a whole bunch of tickets since they started sending them out including the 10k swim as late as 20th July. I kept seeing canoeing available but it wasn't something I was interested in. And from May 23rd until a week before the Games started, the website has worked absolutely fine - but I'm not sure anyone has yet devised a site that can cope with the demand it's been having at busy periods.
I'm sure more Paras tickets will be released though.0 -
Similar to you Barbara, I got nothing in the first and second round, felt very cross about it and lost interest in the olympics so didnt apply when the third sales period started. Then I saw the torch and got all excited. I got tennis tickets at the beginning of July from one of the EU sites as, at that time, the LOCOG site was empty again and I was panicking that I would get nothing at all. A few weeks later when the resales started coming through I managed to get cheap diving and swimming tickets. A couple of days ago I managed to get some last minute cat D Athletics tickets using the tracker/twitter alerts method. Lots of my friends and family have said to me that they really want to go but there are no tickets and I always say have you actually looked cos there are! But I read that the website got 2.5million hits on Saturday so you really need the tracker and alerts to be ahead of the game!0

I'm afraid I'm not on twitter and don't know what the tracker thingy is and the one day that I did see canoe tickets my boss would not let me have the day off work...it's just not that easy to get time off at short notice.
My work have been a right misery about the Olympics - we were actually told that all holiday was banned during the Olympics!!! Then of course the managers with tickets vanished on certain days...
Anyway, I'm really hoping to get a ticket for the paras, there is no way I could get time off this week now even if some miracle produced me a ticket - can anyone please tell me how to set up a tracker alert - feel free to PM me if you don't' want to share with the world!I know that tickets are availble now but my boyfriend can only go on certain days, my work are a misery, and I want to get a ticket for a sport I'm actually into rather than just taking a ticket for something that someone else would appreciate. And not that Stupid orbit thing! LOL!!! I work in London and go past the Olympic park every day..!:rotfl:
EDIT - the news is reporting that the Twitter alert has been banned!! talk about censorship!Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
I used http://checker.benmarshinteractive.com/ although it has been a bit up and down. Not running at the moment but I suspect it will be back up later. It's worth signing up to twitter (no need to actually 'tweet'!). Follow @2012ticketalert and @benmarsh (for news on his checker). And just keep trying. Tickets come available at odd times of days so whenever you are near a computer have a quick look. It becomes a bit of a mission but good luck, will have my fingers crossed that you get the tickets you are after!
eta - some people are also using a Firefox add-on called 'check4change' as a way to keep themselves logged in to the locog site and to alert them to changes. Quite useful as no need to do the captcha thing everytime.0 -
Thanks. I actually work at a computer and am online for a large part of the day, but there have been times when tickets appear in front of me then are still not available even when I immediately click on them. Seeing the reports of how many millions are on the same site, I wondered if people had computer programmes that were buying the tickets for them as they would move faster than us slow hoomans, LOL!!Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!

Happy to pass the info on, after all, it was other people passing it on that helped me!0

http://checker.benmarshinteractive.com is now available on http://2012ticketchecker.com. @2012TicketAlert up and running on twitter again and also has backup account @2012TicketAlert2. A number of tweets this evening showing availabiltiy of certain tickets.
Hope this help someone0 -
I've just noticed this thread, a bit late, but i do have some tips for getting tickets. I managed to get tickets for the velodrome yesterday the night before and have picked up other tickets!
Log in and put something, anything into your basket. That way you bypass having to type those silly words. You can immediately remove it.
Search for your event, but uncheck the 'show available tickets' box. The select box often appears here first for some odd reason before when the box is ticked.
So press select. The session limit box will say 0. Keep refreshing, in anywhere from a few mins to 10 it will change to 4. You know that tickets will be available very soon.
Keep refrwshing... The ticket price options and no. wanted will appear at anytime... Then go for it!
Make sure you dont time out... Occaisionally go to your account.
Hope this helps!£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -

Sadly, there's no such thing as a day ticket for Saturday - there were only day tickets for the first week. There were also day tickets for the Paras but they're all sold out. Just keep looking on the site. Don't bank too much on the overseas sales sites as they've been very widely publicised in the papers over the last few days but, still, you never know...there might be a return or two.0
