Why isn't it illegal to enter a website with illegal content?
If you do something illegal, be it download content, view feeds without a licence, it would be up to you to show it was an accident or you were tricked in to link I suppose, but its not an issue really because.
1. there are no live automatic feeds.
2. unless you do it with a TVL inspector sitting next to you who's to know? MI5 arnt looking out for this kind of thing i'm sure.0 -

I guess it depends on the content of the website: child pornography, of course would be illegal, a hollywood movie download will not be illegal unless you choose to download the movie.
1. I posted several links to automatic live feeds.
2. Just for my piece of mind.
My point is are there provisions in the law that say seeing a live broadcast is OK for say under 30 seconds or something along those lines, like there are for copyrighted material?0 -

No you posted links to feeds from CCTV cameras/web cams and private uploads, they are not live TV feeds from UK broadcast.
And even then on those site it required you to press play to watch a feed.
No strangely enough there is no provision to view live broadcast without a TV licence for 30 seconds.0 -

Ustream frequently promotes streams at random, can you really guarantee that not a single of the thousands or tens of thousands of streams that can be picked at random will violate the TV license limitations?
Furthermore, some of these "streams" are recordings from a TV channel less than 1 hour ago, e.g.

Notice how this stream autoplays and was recorded from a live TV channel less than an hour ago?0 -

I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill here. If you're not serious about watching live UK TV, don't worry about the license. Watching foreign channels on satellite (not licensed/registered here) or online, it seems like you're okay by experiences here. Anything else you want to watch (if you deem it illegal), is your personal choice and risk.0 -

Yes. If you watch or record television programmes that are broadcast from outside the UK, you still need a TV Licence.Do I need a television licence if I only watch programmes received by satellite?
Yes. Under the Communications Act 2003 you need a TV Licence to receive or record television programmes. This applies if they are received by a satellite, cable or land based transmitter. If you are watching any satellite service controlled from within or outside the UK you must have a TV Licence.
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/2002?t...nication%20actTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
All of this tortuous reasoning and Legalese, comes down to this: if you watch TV programmes in the UK, you must pay the appropriate License Fee. Irrespective of how it is broadcast, where it is broadcast from, how it is received and whatever medium is used to receive it.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
