    I've been Money Tipped!
I wore my Uggs to work with leggings all winter! I wear them all the time and no foot rot here! The fakes look scruffy, mine are 2 years old and still look mint.

... but, in this case, the company has a 'smart wear' policy so Uggs and leggings will not fit the bill.

Do they make steel toecapped versions? They might be classed as workwear ;-)

I have nothing against people being comfortable at work, but there is something to be said for more formal workwear, it delineates between worktime and playtime. Alas OP, Uggs are about as informal as you can get. They say "I made no effort today" whether true or not! On the plus side, you now get to go shoe shopping, even if it is for something a bit on the tame side (most places will also find heels non-worky too)

Not a good idea, but slightly more bearable than an ex-colleague who insisted on wearing flip flops, with stinky and shabby feet, bleurgh! (in a customer facing role, where they were also supposed to be working in a stockroom )

I'm sorry but leggings and UGGs (at least cheap versions of them) seem to be the dress code for most of the chavs round here. I'm not saying you are a chav of course but I certainly wouldn't consider them 'smart' and certain not work wear. For what they cost you could have bought several pairs of shoes that would be more appropriate.
  • I have some ug slippers...that is the only use of them. I did once go to work at the radio station in them, but I did used to work at a student radio station on the 10-12pm show!

Wearing such sloppy gear to work, any work, is as unthinking as believing that when companies have "dress down fridays" it is for anything more than for amusing the management on how chavvy some of the underlings can look.
  • I can never understand Uggs anyway. The number of mums that turn up at school wearing them (and often what appears to be pj bottoms but which I am assured is just "fashion" ). They look like they offer no protection from the wet or the cold, and the soles look too thin and unsupportive to make walking comfortable.
I am so glad I am not the only one who finds them utterly pointless overpriced footwear. I certainly would not describe them as smart.

I have similar feelings about crocs though. :p
