Jo-Ann,
Nice idea - I hope your all up to date on the data protection act!

Seems an easy way to make your car pay for itself instead of you having to shell out for it. Just hope Jo's enthusiasm catches on to her advertisers
I've also signed up and will keep the board posted on developments, if any!!!

I have read the 3 pages of this link, so forgive me if i have bypassed this ????
Does anyone know if they are obliged to continue the contract, even if they have to sell their car for financial reasons.
I don't intend to have my car in 5 years time, but could certainly advertise for 1-2 years.
I got as far as registering but not totally gone for "I accept" button.
Any quick replies would be appreciacte.
Cheers guys.0 -
I'm not even sure if this link is live as its been around for so long.
Oh well, I haven't pressed the I accept yet..........0 -

From what I can gather you can update the details of your car if you change it. I would assume that you could update it to "not got one any more" if that was the case.
If not, you have to respond positively within 3 days if you are offered a contract. No response, no contract so you could get round it that way I suppose.

As the last poster said, there is no obligation to accept a contract.
Obviously it wouldn't be sensible to accept a contract if you KNEW you weren't going to keep the car very long.
However I'm sure that they are able to deal with circumstances where people have to sell, or can't drive the car due to theft, accident, illness or even death.
I don't think you have anything to worry about.0 -
Got quite excited as I started to read this thread but now I have reached this far I am completley disheartened. I find it strange that none of you even know of anyone who has been acting as a travelling ad...
In fact I can't remember ever even seeing any of these ads on cars anywhere in Scotland....?
Ah well nice idea in theory!

I think this is a great idea and have for years thought about approaching large companies to pay me to have an ad on my car.
My only reservations are that we become more and more inundated with ads everywhere we look. Soon our roads will be sponsored - they already do it with roundabouts.
Also this 5 year tie in seems relatively unreasonable. Yes the company has a difficult job, convincing drivers to use their cars, convincing companies to advertise in this space and yes in the words of the company "We need to be able to offer our advertisers a stable database of quality carefully selected drivers, hence the 5 year agreement. " But this does not tally. Surely a database of thousands of cars registered with you for a year will not leave you with a problem. Jo said that "As we continue our growth we would be potentially put at risk from new entrants to the market if our entire database of drivers could disappear overnight." If you have a database of drivers registered with you for a year or two, tell me how they are going to leave you overnight? You'll know when their time is up and they either renew with you or you get a new driver. Are you worried about low renewals for drivers? Is this why 5 years.

questions to everyone,
1. has anybody got any ads on there cars?
2. if so when? and long did you wait?
3. when did you sign up?
I have entered my info to the adsoncars database, and got nothing back.
I'm just woundering if any body has got any feed back.
do you have to own a 30 foot lorry before they even look at you?0 -
This idea appears to have bombed which is a shame...
The idea isn't revolutionary and I'm sure there is a market for this type of advertising. Maybe they are ahead of their time and it'll be something to look out for in the future.
Currently, anything that seems to offer to subsidise an individual for advertising never seems to offer any long-term reaping benefits. I've seen internet companies come and go which promise to subsidise you if you're prepared to suffer advertising for a few minutes every hour.
Myoffers.co.uk etc offer succesful schemes whereby you click on links and are paid 5 points for example or Yougov.co.uk which again offer money for completed surveys. However, there is no easy substantial money to be earned for your efforts. If you received £50 yearly from a combination of schemes that would be considered a bonus.
If it sounds too good to be true, as in AdsOnCars, then it probably will be. A few people may benefit however, but its widespread inception is a fictional concept. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
