what ever happened to basic grooming?!
if someones personal choice of grooming is quite literally in my face I think I have a right to make a public display of my disgust.
people seem to think they have the right to tut, waft their hand and make dramatic coughing/gestures when I have a cigarette when it is no where near them (or if they have chosen to sit in a smoking area) so why should I not air my own views?
Basic grooming? Is a fashion... when Yoko was doing her sleep-in / love-in in the 60s body hair was still 'in'. Plus, there are other societies where body hair is not an issue.
I personally epilate BUT it's, again, my choice.Because second hand smoke has serious health repercussions whereas body hair is just personal preference?
^^^ This :T.
Your second hand smoke is dangerous to others (a scientific fact) whereas body hair is just that... hair on a body which is perfectly natural.:hello:0 -

Im not disagreeing with you on the health aspect but why should that be a valid reason for others to loudly voice their opinion on my choice if I cant voice mine about others?
I smoke in designated smoking areas, I dont smoke out on the street or around children, yet guaranteed there will be a non smoker who goes into that area just to make dramatic noises and tell people they should quit.0 -

off topic I know but can you recommend a good epilator?! I have ummed and ahhed about getting one for a while but I know its going to be painful (which is why I've stuck to shaving for so long!!!)0 -

So because some people are rude (about something which has genuine and often very severe health consequences) you think it's ok to be even more rude about people's appearance?0 -
I was being dragged round a car showroom by my husband a few weeks ago. He was busy inside this car and i stood outside by a pillar bored as hell. Obviously this salesman hadnt noticed my husband in the car (or if he had he was being very brave) and came up to me and said with a wink 'hello Darlin' is there anything i can do for you?' You could have peeled me off the floor with shock as he was probably a little older than my eldest son..... anyway, what i am saying is, he probably wouldnt have said that if i hadnt got my makeup on and if i hadnt i dont think i would have handled it with such confidence.
Me with makeup on and me without are very two different people where confidence is concerned. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

if I was sat on the bus and started pointing and shouting 'go and have a shave spider pits' then you may have a point but me pulling a face and having a slight intake of breath when someones hairy armpit is arms reach from my face is no where near as rude as a non (or ex smoker) going into a designated smoking area coughing and spluttering while waving their hands around saying how disgusting it is and telling me I should give up!0 -

This one:

Tried another one a few years ago and found it really painful... tried this one and it's actually bearable.
(although, I had 3 operations last year which I think have raised the old pain threshold).

Perhaps you should avoid public transport if the sight of an unshaven armpit causes you so much horror. I hope your HB/OH is fully shaved for their sake :rotfl:0 -
I do not judge other people like that, but I would think it odd for a woman not to wear make-up to a special occasion like a wedding, but I certainly don't expect other women to wear make-up to work every day.
Ok I'm intrigued as I've never been to a wedding wearing make-up. Why would you find it odd?“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

If I could afford to drive then I would (and before anyone states the obvious about if you stopped smoking then you could – I really couldn’t, I smoke less than 10 a day which would be no-where near the cost of running and maintaining a car).
Funnily enough, I don’t mind it on men – and I prefer a hairy chest over a bald one anyday!!0
