Yep, and I am still up here   I heard that the A1 southbound was closed till mid afternoon and the northbound till later this evening, but later on I heard that the A1 was still closed at Catterick. This is expected to be open overnight so I hope to get home tomorrow, but my brother keeps saying I have squatter's rights on his spare room :rotfl: :rotfl:

I actually hadn't realised how much of the A1 had been closed due to the flooding. I misundertood my sister as saying there had been 30 to 40 mile tailbacks but it was actually 30 to 40 miles of the A1 closed, from juntion 49 to juntion 60

  • The rain/traffic combo was horrendous yesterday so you were right to stay put. It took me 2 hours to get from near the airport into Newcastle city centre yesterday morning, 40 minutes of that was sat practically stationary on the A1 so you really would have struggled to get home. It's nice that you get to see your family a bit longer anyway, squatter or not :D Xx

I saw pictures of the A1 and it was really bad as it is in many other places,It's definitely better to be safe than sorry

You're safe where you are at the minute so no point risking your safety.Think it's meant to move south east now so perhaps it may be clear later today

Morning guys. Got good news and bad news for you today :D:(

Good News - A1/A1M is open, though I believe that sections that were flooded have a 50 mph limit for safety. So I will be driving home today :j :j

Bad News - when driving home from seeing Mam last night, I told my sister that the car was pulling to the left, and I would have to check the tyres when I got back. As I pulled up at her house to drop her off, her OH was talking to neighbour across the road, and they noticed that I had a flat tyre. Front passsenger side. I tried to reverse onto their drive for a flat surface so easier and safer for my B-i-L to change the tyre, and they shouted for me to stop as the tyre was coming off the rim  He took the wheel off and put on my spacesaver spare, and took the wheel to the garage this morning as he was taking their car in for MOT. I need a new tyre with driving on that one when flat :o and that is costing £124 but they had to order one as they didn't have one in stock, so I am waiting of a call to say they have it in now. Oh, and the edge of the steel alloys got scuffed :(:(

Ee' well, the joys of motoring :rotfl: :rotfl:

That's a pain 3Dogs, but it only needs a nail or a tiny piece of glass in the wrong place.

I've been very lucky (touching wood), my car just turned three and it still has all it's original tyres (though the front two will need changing soon as they were a bit worn at the MOT.)

Hope you manage to get home soon.
