Yippee I am online again :j I couldn't find my internet dongle to bring with me so I had to wait until I borrowed my spare one back from my sister
I had meant to leave around lunch time on Friday but forgot to set my alarm and didn't wake up till after noonAnyway, I got packed and away at 3.30pm. The drive up was ok, though there was plenty traffic and, after one quick stop for coffee and one for the loo, I got up here to my brother's at 7.45pm. I was tired and ached but pleased that I'd mananged to drive up as it was some time since I'd done it and I wasn't sure about my concentration lasting that long
By the time I chatted to my brother and watched a little tv, it was midnight when I went up to bed, and I hav=d to make the bed and get my things sorted out, so it was just after 1am when I sat on the edge of the bed to get in and get to sleep. It was at that point, I realised that the last time I was there, was when Alan rang me at 1.10am to tell me that he was showered and dressed and bag packed as he was about to ring for an ambulance when the area around his appendectomy wound was swollen and he was in such pain. I travelled home that day, and, of course, the operation he had later the same day changed our lives when they found the bowel cancerMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Yesterday, I went down with my sister in the afternoon to see Mam and it was so nice that she recognised me and was really bright
I the evening I went to Alan's eldest son's wedding do with my sister, BiL, niece and her OH who all knew step-son from school days and we had a great time. They had got married last weekend in Floriday with a few friends and family present and had just got back on Friday. It was quite difficult for me though, with Alan not being there, and they missed him too. They are a lovely couple and Alan thought so much of his new bride and she of him, so they were upset. Ended in tears at the farewells but I was so glad that I managed to be there, for them, and for Alan
As always at noisy partied like this, I strained my voice trying to talk over the music and lost my voice several times, ending up coughing and sneezing because of this. Got home about 11.45 and was up during the night needing my inhaler a couple of times
Taking it easy today but my brother and I are going down to my sister's later, about 7pm, for a birthday tea for my BiL 61 yesterday and my niece's youngest girl, 7 today, so that will be lovely with all my family together around me. My Sis was wonderful last night, giving me lots of hugs when I needed them, but then she has been wonderfully supportive throughout all of this, bless her :A

Hi Susan.
Glad you have arrived safe and sound. Great to hear that your Mam is settled and seems happy.
Just popped in to say thankyou for the card....please say thankyou to the guys too. Its was a lovely surprise and, although its felt odd getting to this milestone birthday, I have enjoyed my week off immensely.
Have a good week everyone.

Sorry huys, for not posting
but I am fine. Mam is quiet but calm, and still eating everything put in front of her. She even had a sandwich off my plate tonight  It was another resident's birthday so we all had birthday cake - lovely light sponge with cream topping :j. I am going shopping tomorrow wwith my sister so we will have a laugh I am sure
It is really lovely to see Mam, especially while she is as good as she is right now, but it is a bit traumatic going past all the other rooms seeing the people inside, most of whom are dying of cancer, and hearing that 2 of them died in the last few days. Too near home for me at the moment
Hope you had a great birthday Angie xMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Evening all
I've had a lovely day shopping with my Big Sis and then we went down to see Mam for her evening meal and she was calm and good
so it was a good day for me
I had intended to go back home tomorrow, but have decided to stay over the weekend, !!! my brother is having a day out on Saturday and I will cover for him in seeing to Mam, to give him a break. I had mixed up my dates and thought that I was going down to Portsmouth this coming weekend after being up North for a few days, but I am actually going down there the following weekend, so I can easily stay here for a bit longerMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Hi,
Glad everything is going well with Mam and the wedding certainly sounded good.
Just to update, we got the bad news yesterday about my brother. He went to the hosp thinking they were going to arrange his chemo but they said he won't be getting any as he is too far gone and it would only make him feel worse than he already does. Three to six - he has a grandchild due in Feb so he is hoping for the six, but having seen him last week I have to say I'm not hopeful but you never know. He's writing his bucket list (told him the parchute jump is a bit off the wall)
Anyway humdrum shopping awaits so had better get on with it.0 -
