Baby Kavics seems to think the day starts at 3.45 am. She has been feeding 3 times during the night (shock to the system after she has only been waking twice only for the past 6 weeks) and does not want to settle back to sleep after 4. Obv she is very cute and all but I do miss sleeping till at least 6 :-).

I sold my first item so £30 goes to the New York pot. I will post things on ebay this weekend, hoping for some extra. It is baby event in asda next week and i have a couple of vouchers for nappies, need to stock up as we seem to get through them quite quickly. I do have reusable nappies but she seems too small for them, they still leak.

I decided to go through my cupboard and eat what I have, it is full of cans of beans, tomatoes and i have plenty of pasta, rice, etc. freezer is full of frozen veggies. No meat though but I don't really mind vegetarian food. Need a kick to start the post baby diet...

    Hi Kavics

Just catching up & seen your comment about OH's parents being beneficiaries of life assurance.

Do they know this & are they happy to take this money (sorry if this has been discussed & I've missed it)?

I would have thought OH would have wanted money to be used for the life of his baby.

Glad you enjoyed your trip 'home' & that you have another one planned.

I agree with Chev. Plenty time later for dieting etc. Look after you and baby Kavics for now. Hope you are both well x

TTC- i guess his parents are ok with the money. I sent it, they got it, there is nothing more to it. I do panic about what will happen in the future but strangely I am not worried about the financial aspects, I will work and provide. I have no idea though what to tell Baby Kavics where her daddy is. I don't believe so that explanation does not suit me. Any ideas?

Chev, I won't go complete vegetarian, i love meat more than that. I will eat a balanced diet as I still breastfeed, I will just reduce the quantity I am eating.

We are having a lazy day today, just playing and sleeping. I don't fancy going out but will take my baby for a walk later on.

I'm not a believer either, but I've always liked the idea that our loved ones are watching down on us from the stars. It's no truer than any other option, but it's a nice idea.

I think they say it quite well in The Lion King :D

  • When the time comes that your daughter is asking questions about her daddy if you are struggling for the right words then maybe you could speak to Winstons Wishes, they are a charity for bereaved children. They also have a suggested reading list for under 5's and also may be able to give you some guidance to help your daughter feel secure.

Baby Kavics is 10 weeks old and she is a joy. I love her so much, I can't believe she is all mine. She found her thumb 2 nights ago so only waking once now. She changes day by day, getting chubby too. She still looks like my Oh but finally I can see that the shape of her eyes are mine and so is h!r nose. The colour of her eyes are still changing, looking more like my Oh's. She looks really funny at the moment as lost a lot of hair, hoping they grow back quickly.

We are going to see my parents tmrw, staying there for 10 days. I have a couple of things to find out than based on those I will make my decision about moving back. Most likely we will, I really want to give the best start in life to her and closer to family is the place.

Money wise I am dipping into my savings now, matrnity pay is not enough for rent, bills, food, travel, etc. I signed baby Kavics up for swimming and although it is expensive I really feel we will both benefit from it. We are doing baby massage too. I also made the decision to switch to cloth nappies once my current disposables run out, nappies are so expensive. I got lots of size 1 cloth nappies off freecycle and bought some size 2s on promotion. Washing the nappies shoould cost 40p every second day, much cheaper than buying disposables.

I also returned a couple of her presents, she got so much when she was born. I exchanged the clothes for bigger sizes, and chose different toys (she had a couple of duplicates so changed them for bath toys, puzzles).

Another lovely and loving post, kavics.

I'm glad you have gone to cloth nappies - they will be useful in all sorts of ways for years and years. Well done for using Freecycle too.

I'm surprised that the mum&baby swimming is expensive, even in these times. Does your local authority not subsidise/encourage this? It's also worth asking your GP about it as part of any Well Woman or Happy Family initiative your medical practice may support. Our small village does this in association with the village college pool and gym.

The new hair will come when it's good and ready - most of us have baby baldy photos somewhere:-). I started as a blondie, grew chestnut, now grey[but the college salon takes care of that nowadays].
