Big ((hugs)) to Dragonette and Bossymoo. I can only echo what Goodintentions and Vanilla have already said.

I'm hoping to fly in the garden today, providing that the rain keeps off. I need to finish edging the lawn and mow it if the rain keeps off - we had a downpour yesterday evening, and I have spotted some thistles coming up here and there in the jungle that the flowerbeds have become, which need to come out before they seed everywhere.

My children have got their own homes and I usually keep the spare rooms tidy, so flying in the house will be minimalistic today, to say the least. I have already done QHI, including the final press of the cardigans for DGD and the new baby. I spent much of yesterday re-learning to crochet so that I could make some little flowers to brighten up the plain colours. Just about to go and gift wrap them! I have got the knitting bug again (it's an excuse to sit down and watch the Olympics!) and might start another jacket and hat for the baby. The thought of casting on 146 stitches for the smallest size of jacket is not good, but that is for the back and wrapover fronts together, so there will be two less seams to sew up.

Tonight, if I can get tickets, we are going to the open air theatre to see two actor friends in Henry IV Part 1. Apparently most people have been doing the same as us this season - checking the weather forecast and making a decision on the day, which has meant tiny audiences for some performances - but the show has always gone on. I take my hat off to the actors and stage managers who are out in the rain while the audience sits under cover. Let's hope it stays dry for them tonight.

vanilla, thank you. I know my friends don't care about the flat looks (its tidier and cleaner than theirs ;) ). I'm just finding it hard coming home from working away and then stating a weeks worth of housework. I guess that taking last weekend off is making me more worried about what I'll find tonight. I kno OH will do everything he can but he really isn't up to anything much atm. These new pills better work and fast

Forgot to mention I found beetles in th hallway last week. Managed to not squel (sp?) Really want to get everything clean to the edges and put down something to put them off. The perils of old buildings!

Ditto what Vanilla has said. Any small thing you are able to do is one less thing left. It is important that you set yourself realistic goals. I have found that by posting on this thread it has given me the push that I need to clean and declutter my home. I used to be really house proud but when my ex and I split I found that I got so bogged down with the day to day things that I let my home and myself go. Therefore, my mission is to sort out my home (one baby step at a time) and then have some time to sort myself out ( I have put on 5 stone:eek:, and at the moment hate myself for it) but I know that I will get there.

    Frugalgal x

Thank you, I'm mosty aiming for lvl one and two while I'm only home at weekends. I don't iron (don't own one) and don't have kids so I don't have it particularly bad really. Its more the emotional stress atm.

Ionafan - thanks :) the theatre sounds fab and ytou can take some crochet with you for the intervals (one reason I prefer it to knitting - its uber portable)

Not much flying will get done here today, I've got a chest infection and when I start coughing I can't stop!! Feeling rough, I've been to the Docs this morning and got tablets so just waiting now for them to kick in.

    Me time -

We have been out in the garden this morning, and dug up some spuds! The isn't loads but they look nice. Varying sizes. Might parboil and roast the small ones in their skins. Will mash and freeze some too.
Had a good sweep around, salvaged some compost from a rotting jute salad planter, filled and prepped two other planters day for some winter veg. Kiddies found loads of snails, DS decided to try name them all lol.
So garden looking a bit tidier, and all ticks on my master list to get done before the cold sets in.
Kiddies complaining of hunger, snack time methinks.

  • Big hugs to Bossymoo and Dragonette. Other people have said it better than I could - you both have a huge amount to cope with, in differing ways yes, but please, both be kind to yourself.

Helen Jelly, get well soon. I'm still suffering with my chest after nearly two weeks and it does zap your energy.

And Mrs Robertson! I am jealous! I want to see Ted - I just LOVE Seth McFarlane. Enjoy!!

Flying - have done a bit! Fed the cat, us and birds (loads of baby starling today, that have most of their adult plumage).

Tidied the bedroom, aired the bed, S&S the kitchen and cleaned the bathroom partly before, and then after, having my shower. Spare bedroom is ok, so more Olympics for me!

Did a big online T@sco shop yesterday, and will send some goodies up to my friend (who I'd been helping) who is still struggling shopping.

Macpep, my avatar is my little Maisie who died in the spring. I finally managed to look at some photos of her, and always loved this one.

Good vibes to everybody. Lamewolf, I hope you are more rested today and, Pigpen, I hope you get all done that you wanted to and have a great day. R x
