I would say if it is a job you want and think you can do apply. I am looking to change my field of work and so recently applied for 3 jobs (all similar) of which I have zero experience - some transferrable skills but didn't hit the target essential criteria directly.

I got 3/3 interviews and 2 job offers - yet have never done this kind of work before.

The key is to transferrable skills for some jobs - not exactly meeting the criteria

but if those jobs said you needed 3 years experience and maybe a car or an NVQ would you still apply? that is the point I'm making.

And next you will be telling us what foods you don't like ;) as that too will have as much to do with the quote of mine you quoted in your post.

If you quote me I think it is reasonable that your comments were in answer to the quote.

I never once said you were talking about travel time/distance, i was just stating what you agree to when you sign up for JSA so nothng about me at all, so where you got that about food i dont know.

5 a week is excessive? hahaha yeah right. Good luck finding a job with that attitude.

I should point out that the OP is being slightly selective with the information. The original thread was posted by the mother of a jobseeker whose agreement was to apply for five jobs a week. The son is autistic! As a result he is not literate etc. And neither she nor he were complaining about it. The work programme were insisting he double this or lose his benefit. The son was very keen to work and five applications a week from someone in these circumstances is very hard work. Especially if you are genuinely trying to get the job.
