JSA applying for jobs.

Maybe not if you have 10 degrees, a car, 2 year experience in every possible type of job then no it wouldn't be.
Take a read of what a job paying min wage expects, read one the other day that wanted you to have 2 years experience, your own car and was paying £6.08ph.
There are plenty of jobs without those specifications paying more than minimum wage.
I dont have a degree, and dont drive. Doesnt hold me back.0 -
No harm in applying for jobs that require 2 years experience, at least you can put it down on the sheet for the job centre, yes it may be a waste of your time but if you need 1 application to get on the sheet for your advisor then why not give it a shot.
Why play their daft game, they either want me to apply for jobs I can get or just want to make life hard for those on JSA, if it's the latter I'm not playing that game.0 -
The conversation is about what a person is required to do. If a person is being required to apply for 5 jobs a week, then that is excessive and not supportable in law
Depends how badly 1 wants to get back into work, if someone wants to get back into work then said person will apply for 3/4 a day or how many they choose.
If said person is only applying for jobs that are 5 minutes walking distance from where they live then they are being selective whereas they could apply for jobs that are 10/15 minutes wallking distance.
Your required to fulfill the steps outlineed in the agreement, no harm in doing more though.0 -

Sorry, I'm not on JSA and I'm still looking what is available and almost all jobs paying 1p more than min wage wants experience, a car or both and those paying min wage are not much different.0 -
My experience from when I was on JSA was that they wanted me to apply for anything and sent me for jobs roles that had no relation to my career.
Eventually I signed off and started supporting myself through temp work.
Long hours, rubbish pay but I earned more and felt better about myself- I wasnt treated as a no-hoper.
2 years later I'm working part-time in a job related to my career, part-time in a shop and part time in the temp agency and studying part-time to further my career.
So much happier.0 -

Your attitude is completely wrong. DCFC79's posts are spot on here, you do whatever it takes to find you a job, and if that means applying for things that you do not fully meet the criteria for then so be it. Jobseeking is not a "game", it is a step towards providing a livelihood for you and your family.0 -

Because you dont drive its set out in your agreement how far you would be required to travel to get to said job which from memory was something like 45 minutes but could be wrong but its something you and the advisor can agree upon.0 -
Call centre pays more than minimum wage. Doesnt require a car. And its possible to get without experience.0

re the jobs not related to your career that sounds like that was your advisor, the advisors i had were quite good in terms of didnt give me any hassle, had realistic expectations of what jobs to apply for.0
