Just go and see her and tell her under no circumstances must she take in parcels for you. All she needs to do is reject the delivery.

She must be very stupid thinking that nobody would notice.
Once, yes but anymore than that, well she's just thick.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

You could try asking on the consumer rights board with regards to getting your money back. I'm sure I've read similar threads on there and I think there is some onus on the seller to ensure the goods arrive to you, even in these circumstances of a parcel being signed for.

You could call the police and see if a PCSO might have a word with her, 'fraid a thief is a thief regardless of their cirumstances..

I wouldn't do that, alerts people to the fact that you're not in and might make you a target for burglars.

Can't see that it's much different to 'No free newspapers, no junk mail' which isn't going to make burglars think you are out.

Skint single Mother or not I'd be calling the Police.

I assume since the companies concerned are adamant the items were in the parcels then you are all out of pocket financially now?

She's getting away with it. What will make her stop? You need to escalate this imo.

Except, if you're in you'd take the parcel yourself.

Its just a word of warning, as old neighbours of mine left a note on their front door saying 'put the parcel in the big flowerpot' or something like that, and ended up having the parcel and their kids bikes nicked.

Can't you just put a note on the door/window stating if out for deliveries, please leave only at, and give the numbers of a couple of trusted neighbours who would take parcels in for you. You could also request parcels are taken back to depot if no response from either of these two neighbours and not to leave elsewhere.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

no excuse being skint and single mother, i was one too not so long back, but i would never stoop so low as to steal from others (if she did do it)

And think about having parcels sent to you to your work place?

To me that's different. It says I'm expecting a parcel today, leave it in the flowerpot. Whereas a more general 'Never leave parcels at 53' doesn't suggest I'm expecting something specifically today.

True, I'm just not sure I'd want to risk it.

Probably better to tell the companies at the point of purchase, then if they do go the neighbour its entirely their fault as they were specifically asked no to.
