There seems to be a common theme amongst comedians (I have seen talking about this), who lets face it are usually quite intelligent, that their parents are quietly disappointed. It may not be universal, I may be talking out of my anus but I give you two; Dr Harry Hill, Dr Paul Sinha. Both are probably doing quite well now but I imagine 'chucking' 7 years of medical training out of the window didn't go down too well initially!

I've had a better day. Feeling a little less flat and thinking about how I need little financial targets and some planning to keep me focused.

Exhaust manifold has been replaced for the princely sum of £163 for labour and small parts and £110 for the exhaust. The £70 for the first sh*te exhaust has been returned to my bank account.

Collected my 'underpaid' item from the post office today. Was 11p under, cost me £1.11 to collect :( Thank the lord it had a £15 gift voucher in the birthday card otherwise I'd have been really cheesed off!!:rotfl:

Off for a run now and then will watch the footie with a glass of wine.

And the swear filter didn't pick that one up. Perhaps it thinks it's some kind of annuity...

What about Clive Anderson - barrister (not just a solicitor). I bet it cost him quite a bit of time, money and effort to get there. And he's in a worse position than the rest because he's not actually very funny.

But you can take examples from all walks of life. Margaret Thatcher. Good industrial chemist, virtually invented the Mr Whippy ice-cream, and look what happened to her...

If you're feeling flat (or worse), you should be reaching out to people. They can give you new perspectives, new opportunities...or provide beer...

Well talking about returning stuff...I needed to return something today, filled in the form, then got to the CAPTCHA at the end...

    That clearly says 'The Fog'.

The guy in the offy has just told me I look hot. This voice from the storeroom yelled "saucy".
Thing was I did look hot....I looked like I was about to expire!

Ignore the expiring bit. The take-away from that interaction is: You're hot and he's saucy.

    SO.....

This month we pretty much rebuilt the car - manifold is on and working :T
New tyres are on and looking deep :D

Next month (which in terms of my pay day starts on Tuesday!) we are replacing the coils (I think!) on the rear suspension.
August pay we will use for the headlights and wipers and putting it through the MOT before it runs out on 22nd . Then it will run smoothly for six months until after I have bought a house ARE YOU LISTENING CAR?

I need little aims for the next three or four months to get me through living with two guys who don't like to clean. How hard is it to lift a 'chinese meal for 2' box from on the floor next to the full recycling bin in the kitchen to outside into the empty recycling bin. Yes I know, some of you are making the OUTRAGEOUS suggestion that he could have emptied the recycling bin!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am busy clearing one bookcase in the bedroom and will shift that to the storage unit. Anything under the bed that hasn't been touched for a year will also go. I need calm. I need a house.

The aim for next month looks like it is going to be £300 off the MBNA credit card and about £200 on savings. O/D is still being maxed out but will get some attention from mid August.

The other aims are to increase the plank from one minute and to fit in 3 mins a day (at least) working with the dumb bells. I want to get a bit fitter but also to have a [STRIKE]washboard[/STRIKE] slightly flatter stomach for my shark outfit in August.
Been for a Park Run today for the same purpose - was very hot! (The weather, not me this time!)

Now I'm going to rehydrate at a Beer Festival this afternoon (There is something wrong with that sentence isn't there?)

Emo tyres...had to happen I suppose. Dressed all in black?

    Best to make sure.

How do you wear out headlights? Have the bulbs gone?

It'll be fine once you get all that done.

Best to be until you've moved in and sorted the nagging stuff. How's that process going?

That's fairly much how I see it. Even in my mind, if you can't get any more stuff into the bin, then it's time it was emptied.

    Soon...

I have a list from the mechanic

How do you wear out headlights? Have the bulbs gone?

They are fogging / hazing/ deteriorating in a foggy type way

It'll be fine once you get all that done.

It will be, it's a good little car, infact next year I might get another one, maybe a BIT more power

Best to be until you've moved in and sorted the nagging stuff. How's that process going?
Lets not talk about it. I've looked at what I think they can afford if they want to stay in the village and it's not much at the moment. It really does go quiet until mid September....I remember this time last year

That's fairly much how I see it. Even in my mind, if you can't get any more stuff into the bin, then it's time it was emptied.

Today we have come home to the key removed from the back door and the side gate open. Fortunately someone had forgotten to put up a big sign saying "Please wander around the garden and nick anything you like from the shed....like my housemates bike"

    Soon...

    Not soon enough

    The plank?

Like lying face down only with only your forearms and toes touching the floor....considerably harder than just lying down

Beer festival very good. Had a pint of water in the middle of it and travelled in by train not wearing platforms.....thus avoiding previous fate from bus/platforms/beer combo of 2 days in A&E

No. Not that I can tell.

    Tomorrow is pay day :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

and I am £210 under my overdraft limit :T

Not entirely sure how that has happened. Looks like the £163 manifold bill has not left the account yet!

The next month looks busy and sociable with a bit of car repairing in (a bit :rotfl:).

Also wanted to get my neice something for her 21st birthday. Asked my brother what she might like along the jewelery line (Fortunately told her I 'might' be sending her dad back with something for her - spot that get out clause!!!) In the words of Julia Roberts
    Big Mistake.....HUGE

.......so I suspect I WON'T be buying something substantial in white gold as her father has suggested:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Who is this man? Is he actually related to me? Does he actually remember the last few years?

How about something less substantial in silver or moulded plastic....or a bag of walnuts to remind her what people used to get in the day's of yore........THE GOOD OLE DAYS OF YORE!

Anyway I work in a city with some nice jewelers....and I work with some peeps who understand how I want to appear generous but not spend any money (I believe that is the family motto - my brother should know!) ....so after today's NSD I shall have a look and then do my monthly budget.

Well be careful of that. That's the sentiment I had with this car - and you've seen where that ended up...

You gave the game away by mentioning the word "man". The answer is "no".
