Hairy arms on 9 year old

I think if the comments aren't bothering your DD (ie she's not feeling isolated or picked on because of the comments) then I'd just listen and re-inforce that its perfectly normal for girls to grow hair on their bodies (can you tell I've been there and done that with my own 8-year old?).
Unfortunately my DD ended up feeling completely isolated and bullied by the repeated comments about it from one particular girl (thankfully not at school, but at dance class) it was heartbreaking for me to think that at such a tender age girls would be so aware and taunting about something that was just a little different on one person's body.0 -
Lotus-Eater, I really hope that this is your daughter noticing her body, and not as the result of any taunts. I am blonde too, and have (what I think) are hairy arms. The hairiness has not decreased over time, but during the summer when we have enough sun, they are so fair as to go unnoticed. It's not something I think about, until they are fair and I can't see them if you know what I mean. My legs are another story, however, they wouldn't disgrace a horse .
I also have a patch of really fine, fair downy hair on my back, in the middle of my back just below my waist, which for some reason the OH loves playing with. Being hairy does sometimes have its advantages.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -

I did wonder but then I wear shorts and skirts for most of the summer here, especially this week!Cos at home i let the hair run free!! i never show my legs if i can help it!! my oh is used to me shaving, after ive shaved in the bath, it looks like someone has sheared a sheep in there, dont get me wrong, a lot of people have a lot worse things, but can you imagine when Shrek 2 came on, and shrek and fiona were both shaving, and my entire family turned and looked at me incredulously.....ha ha another woman shaving like mam!!
ive been tested for too much testostorone, polycystic ovaries etc, nowt, just hormones. So doctors say there's nothing they can do.
Wouldnt you rather let it run free on hol where you dont know anyone though if its for that reason? Or do you literally only wear skirts if it 35C or something?
LOL at Shrek!
Thats a shame, you would think they could give you something to treat it.0 -

She is a blonde and the hair doesn't show much, more a golden sheen, but she asked the question the other day, why are my arms so hairy.
My granddaughter had very hairy arms when she was younger but now at 13 they are not noticeable. She is blonde with brown eyes and the hairs were very pale but quite dense and longish. Definitely hairy.
Now, although she isn't entirely hairless, they are nothing unusual and certainly nothing that would arouse any comments. So I would expect it will be similar with your 9 year old.0 -

Nah, I don't want to look like a hairy neanderthal on holiday!! i very rarely wear skirts anyway, there's nothing the doctors can do. But i'm used to it now anyway!!0
