    Why are you concerned?

What's the issue with females having body hair?

You are hardly empowering her by enforcing such an ideal.

where did Lotus-eater say they were enforcing any particular ideal about females with body hair?

Oh no. I feel for women who have that type of problem.

Why only if youre abroad though?

Cos at home i let the hair run free!! i never show my legs if i can help it!! my oh is used to me shaving, after ive shaved in the bath, it looks like someone has sheared a sheep in there, dont get me wrong, a lot of people have a lot worse things, but can you imagine when Shrek 2 came on, and shrek and fiona were both shaving, and my entire family turned and looked at me incredulously.....ha ha another woman shaving like mam!!

ive been tested for too much testostorone, polycystic ovaries etc, nowt, just hormones. So doctors say there's nothing they can do.

    I didn't, deliberately didn't.

If she asks me if her arms will get less hairy as she gets older, I wanted to know the answer. Simple as.

I wouldnt want to let all my body hair grow in, after a couple of days i would have a goatee, not too attractive in a woman... i dont think anyway.!

What I want to know, is there a chance they will get less hairy as she gets older? Or will they get more hairy?
She is a blonde and the hair doesn't show much, more a golden sheen, but she asked the question the other day, why are my arms so hairy.

I don't want to know anything about how her body image shouldn't matter to her, nor anything along those guidelines thankyou.
    Just a simple question.

Oh lotus-eater you know this is not a simple question. How can anyone know whether your daughter will get more or less hairy? So yes there is a chance that she might get less hairy but there's also a chance that she will get more hairy. :undecided

I absolutely did not know it was not a simple question at all. For all I knew, it was common that 9 year old girls had hairier arms than 15 year olds.

I have hairy arms and I think they've stayed the same since since I was younger. They go blonder in the summer. Shaving my arms was only mentioned once by another child. No-one has ever said anything.

I did shave them once, but I hated the sensation of my skin when they were growing back, it was horrible and bumpy - a bit like when i've had my bikini line waxed so never again.

Interestingly as an aside, the thing that confirmed it for me that it was okay to have hairy arms, was that Lisa Bonet (the oldest daughter in The Cosby show), when she was in the programme A different World she had hairy arms. Yet she was one of the most prettiest actresses at the time and incredibly cool, or so I thought. This made me think it was difinitely ok not to shave your arms! She also married Lenny Kravitz.

Ah well that's another question and my answer would be no it is not common that 9 year old girls have hairier arms than 15 year olds, it sounds like she is more hairier than others.

Am I the only one that needs a spell checker to spell hairier? :o

My dd who is just 8 mentioned yesterday that a few kids at school had commented on her dark hairy arms. She also is hairy on her legs and back. Hopefully, it won't become an issue because I'd hate to have think of removing it due to peer pressure.
