As I'm getting 8% interest on the sum I'm not too worried if the payment is a bit late, I can't get that in a bank! The FOS tell me the vast majority of settlements are on time as companies are legally bound to pay within the deadline.after 21st of August a court has the power to force payment, further interest and penalities.0

Curly girl, sometimes planning the holiday is just as exciting as going. Get the family involved, ask them where they wanna go, what they wanna do. Get loads of holiday brochures. Then when that money hits your account on the 21st go out and book it for the October break. Im starting to sound like a broken record but you can't rely on anything in life until you got it in your hands.0

if the money is paid on 21 August 2012 then you still have time to book a late break, I am assuming you would only go for 2 weeks so you will be back before they start school. You could go in on the morning of 21st and go on the afternoon or evening providing you have passports, money and are packed. I wouldnt want to wait til half term either. I would want to go straight away I understand op wanting to get away.

I think you need to get a definition of what offensive is as my 2 replies are not offensive.0 -
Curlygirl,
If you have been claiming benefits, you might need to look at clawbacks - this can happen if the funds you planned to live on but couldn't suddenly arrive. Also look at the tax implications - will any of this money be subject to tax? That should also be set aside.
Fundamentally, no-one can stop you, and I am aware that most companies won't want legal enforcement applied to them. However, to have been in a situation where you expected a payment once (four years ago) and didn't get it, and now expect a payment on the 21st August from the same company..... why would you risk drawing money against it for the sake of a month or two?
Einstein said the definition of madness is doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result. Just wait until you have it and you know that every penny you have is yours to keep. Then the hell really will be over, and you can celebrate properly.
Best of luckSome days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Benefits will all have to be paid back... The Compensation Recovery Unit. deal with it all...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Why can't you get a cheap, last minute deal in Britain? I paid £79 for a last minute 3 day Haven holiday for my family and we had a very good time.0

I would rather have a cheap holiday that I could afford than take out a high interest loan.
And I am not sure what you meant about council house tenants? Holiday camps seem to have a wide selection of society.0
