Only solution is borrow from family/friends. Wouldn't recommend though particularly that amount and for a holiday. Agree the best idea is wait until half term or Christmas (lapland is nice!).

Personally I wouldn't count my chickens until they're hatched. Wait until the money is really in your account - there could be administrative delays, appeals, foul-ups, items lost in the post.....anything.

Yes, £100 k with a recommendation for more. The money has to be paid to be by act of parliament by 21st August as that's the powers of the FOS. Its not a promise I have a formal letter stating the award and the deadline.

Curly girl - how much is your payout, if you don't mind my asking? Your last post reads like £100k, and for four years of back payments etc, that would be a remarkable sum.

When you get the money, I know the temptation is to splurge and enjoy it, However, clearing everything, getting yourself back on track and putting a little nest egg away (and then blowing the rest) would help make sure that you don't get into this situation again.

BTW, Apples2 wasn't being rude - in your first post you referred to your financial mess. If you put up a post saying 'In a financial mess, will get money soon, but want to borrow now for a holiday' you should be aware that people are going to tell you it's a bad idea. Jam tomorrow is what got most of us into the poop in the first place....

Go to somewhere like icelolly.com, they have great cheap deals. You don't need £4k for a holiday.

Excellent result - well done. But I would still wait until you actually have the money.

It's for PHI rather than PPI so if a claim has been denied the sum involved could be significant over several years - a high percentage of annual salary each year.

I'd still recommend the OP waits until money is banked. Then book a tasty cheap late deal.

It does suggest that the FOS, despite it's faults, is a force for good.

Yeah I would do what they guys say and hold fire until the bank looks rosey again. I would also make sure that you put a bit by and pay off anything you owe (then go to freaking Disneyworld ;) - that's what I'd do... if I got my hands on £100K!) xxx
Life is too short not to love what you do.

I agree with the comments on here. If I were in line for a £100k payout, £90k of that would be going on paying off debt (including mortgage and student loan). The other £10k I would splash out with, including a nice holiday somewhere fairly exoctic. With my fiancee being a teacher, we're limited to school holidays too, so we'd look for a late deal for October. But none of it would be spent until the money is in the bank!

Another option is that if you pay off all debts with the payout, then you will have alot more spare cash each month from your salary, so could quite easily save for a holiday next summer out of your salary (booked early for better deals). this would give you more choice than a late deal

With 100k I would start up a small SECURED payday loan company to start with and only lend maximum £300 per applicant with a quite moderest APR compared with the rest around at 1750% APR.
