With 100k I would start up a small SECURED payday loan company to start with and only lend maximum £300 per applicant with a quite moderest APR compared with the rest around at 1750% APR.

ahh but what would you call it?! All the ridiculous names are gone! xxx
Life is too short not to love what you do.

Apples 2 I've not made a financial mess of anything.
You did because (in your own words) you have amassed debts and have a poor credit rating now

Reasons are completely irrelevant to a lender, it may be harsh but is a fact. With a poor credit file no sensible lender will entertain you as a customer.

Good luck to you in receiving your money but I will be surprised if you do get £100k+.

My point remains that you should do nothing until you receive and have banked the cheque.

A friend of mine had his Works Van (his very livelihood) Repo'd because he believed the Taxman's promise they had issued a £15k rebate.
He cancelled the monthly payments (stoopid I know) expecting the money but nada, zilch.... Taxman changed his mind after stating the payment was on it's way and was left with nothing.
Having already spent the money on bling he could not recover his payments.

Van repo'd and ended up going BR.

Until it is in your hand, it doesn't exist.

The bank are helping me out with an increased overdraft facility, which I'll only use if I need it. They were falling over themselves to help, I hadn't incurred debt from buying designer handbags but because an insurance company refused to pay me for nearly 4 years. So, this company are legally bound to pax the max ombudsman award of 100k, with a recommendation for more and a further claim. So all in all, I haven't created a my own financial mess, I've survived with my home after come thru a nightmare with my home and family intact. Oh, and a few quid in the bank to :-) ! I just wanted some practical advice as to whether a bank would laugh at me but of course not. They're as two faced as it gets, when you got a big wad of cash! They took my letter as proof of income, as legally it is.

Why not ask your bank for more for your holiday then? Sounds like they would be your best bet given what you've said.

You made a complete mess of things financially but now have a chance to turn back the clock and get back on the straight and narrow........ nope, blow it on a Holiday.

Until you are holding the money in your hand, it isn't yours, the last thing you should be doing is frantically spending it as fast as you can.

Nobody is going to lend you money on a promise.

Dcfc79 do u think it's a compliment to say someone's made a mess of things? I don't see your your comments could be views as anything other than offensive. I posted here hoping for some practical advice, not smug, sanctimonious, hater style comments. The only mess I'm in is my health, which is the reason I found my income stopped. Fortunately, the FOS agreed with me. If I could turn back the clock it's my health I'd change not my finances. No frantic spending, just a much needed holiday that can old be taken in the next 3 weeks. Maybe I should ask those who've made judgemental comments (who fail to understand either PHI or the FOS) how much of your income of the last 4 years have you got left? Cos I've got nearly all mine !

and very quickly you'd have about 0k.
