Do you think that pancakes and toast don't contain plenty of sugars, because I can assure you, they are packed with them. Not putting butter on toast is not going to avoid obesity.

You have some very odd ideas about food. I wouldn't say that they are particularly good habits either! Pancakes need syrup, or some other topping. Otherwise they asre completely boring!

    of course I know.
pancakes need a topping? well if they do. he has the likes of fresh blueburries, yoghurt or the like.
if you never had pancakes with syrup, you wouldnt miss them.
I also try and use Agave necter in place of suger where possible
however what does fizzy juice provide to a diet?

Oh my word, how incredibly rude!

PastureNew, I can't believe you and the other guests are ignoring the specified time that the owners of the hotel have allocated for breakfast and are hassling them into opening earlier and earlier. That's really not fair at all.

If you don't want to eat at the same time as the families then just go in after they've finished.

(Oh, and I occasionally drink Diet Coke with breakfast, if I've run out of coffee or milk I need my caffeine somehow!)

I didn't mean your child personally, I meant that some would raise eyebrows if they saw a child with a can of coke with breakfast, but hardly anyone would if they saw them with the other stuff I mentioned, which are equally as bad for a child.

Yes but toast doesn't generally cause children to start bouncing off the walls!

Anyway its all about balance :)

I love toast with butter and marmalade, and tea.

Or with fried whole cherry tomatoes.

Better for me than sugar puffs et al.

Pastures New, why don't you reveal that you are on the autistic spectrum so that others here understand your frustrations?
And spoil the fun? I've been out on the beach in the sun, and had the pleasure of returning to this lot arguing the t0ss over what's good or not... thereby voting each other up/down as good/bad parents. Priceless.

We're not hassling them, simply walking into the room and sitting down and getting our juice, coffee, cereals and making our toast.... all unseen until the hotel owner comes in on the dot of the right time. He's not even aware we're there 2-5 or more minutes early.

Can't do that, for a host of reasons I won't state or it'll start further food wars :)

Hint: sticky fingers .... make your own toast basket.

    !

When I make pancakes, I don't put sugar in them - does anybody?

A decent loaf of bread is hardly full of sugar, either.

They are full of flour=starch=a very good storage molecule full of sugar. As soon as it hits your bloodstream, your glucose levels will increase.

For breakfast this morning I had: A weetabix with a tube of sugar and some milk. 2 bits of toast, one plastic portion of jam, 2 chipolatas, half a tomato, spoon of beans, scrambled eggs, 2 little glasses of orange juice and 2 black coffees.

    I wish they had Frosties....
