Not my fault if they misunderstand my intention.

North Yorks highway robbers use an unmarked silver transit van, from the rear it looks like a camper vanYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
It was reported a little while ago that one police force had a police car parked up the road from a speed camera van nicking people who flashed to warn drivers about the van. They earned more from that than from speeding tickets.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Nope dont warn drivers, especially in a 30mph zone, although I have warned drivers (young) who were speeding in a 40mph zone, and they braked hard thinking I was warning them of the Police, however, they weren't there, but it did get them to slow down and it was an accident blackspot too!
I seen the traffic cops on the opposite site of the motorway in Glasgow, one was standing just outside the car with the speed gun, seen him pop his head in, then he got in, lights went on and down the wee ramp they went and after the speeding motorist, quite good to see cos i'm fed up with the tailgaters there when I stick to the limit, there should be alot more getting done. Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

surely it is your duty to warn other motorists that they are entering what must be a hazardous bit of road, otherwise the police wouldn't be there. How would you feel if they were speeding and killed somebody who stepped out from behind the police van because they thought it was a camper van?
This is the whole thing that gets me about the snidey ways of catching people - if you don't see the officer then the first you know about the dangerousness of your driving is when a ticket lands on your doormat two weeks later, only luck stops that person from killing somebody due to their excess speed in the mean time. Speed traps should be very obvious so they actually do their job of slowing people down in a dangerous area.0 -

@Op: No, I don't warn others. I can't be bothered and hold the same attitude as you - they choose to do it, they'll have to learn the hard way.
I do however warn people if their headlight bulbs are out and I often flash / hold full beam at those who are trying to blind me with their fog lights.
So what offence is that then?

In France they are now remove all signs warning of fixed cameras so that you should expect a camera anywhere. Suspect they will that here soon and make even more money from those who choose to ignore the limits.
The other new police favourite is white van man on dual carriageways because most don't realise the limit is 60mph not 70mph, lots will get caught doing 75-80mph thinking they are only 5-10mph over the limit when they are actually 15-20mph.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
