DD won £5k - should she share it?

She won it, it's hers and I don't see why she should share it with her brothers. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -

I think it's a shame that you instigated the "everybody for themselves" policy at the start as it's difficult to change it now. I think that families should share in each others' good fortune - that's the way I was brought up.0

If grandad had wanted any wins shared, surely he would have bought the bonds between them in the first place?
And if previous wins haven't been shared, it is a little hypocritical to say that they didn't share but she has to.
Of course if she wants to, then that's a different matter. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
We tend to share our wins (over a tenner, otherwise the amounts are piffling).
The share may not be equal, but certainly some goes around.0 -

Although I think it is never too late. Otherwise Agree completely with above. Myself and my friends have always been like this. Its never expected its just what you do. We always share a little something. Everyone then has a touch of the luck.
What is your daughter thinking? Does she not think it would be a nice thing to buy everyone a bag of chips? Or similar wee treat.0 -
This is something you should have discussed when you got the bonds, rather than now. My sister and I were also bought bonds and it was said at the start that anything above £50 would have to be shared but anything below that we could keep. This was decided to avoid the situation you find yourself in! I'd say it's too late now and that her brothers should also be able to keep anything they win for themselves. You have already been relatively sensible with it, I'd say, by allowing her a small amount of pleasurable spending and banking the rest.0

I think she should have treated her siblings when she won the money; I would have suggested perhaps £100 each so they can have a treat or boost their savings but it is too late now.
As others have said, you have now created what could be a potentially difficult 'non sharing' situation. Hopefully you won't change your minds if someone wins a million.0 -
My eldest two have premium bonds. They were both asked what they wanted to do in the case of a win and their decision stood.
All/any agreement should have been sorted out from day one.
I think it's very wrong for Dad to stick his nose in tbh. Especially since he's only done it because of the amount.Herman - MP for all!0
