Holiday Extras won't honour FREE IF IT'S CHEAPER

I booked a stay and park deal at the Sofitel Gatwick for an up and coming holiday.

It cost £214.70 I then went on the Sofitel website and it says £178.80

I called HolidayExtras and they said they would look in to it.

They emailed me back and said that my package included dinner for two and fair enough on my confirmation email it stated dinner for two.

HOWEVER, at no time in the booking process did it state dinner for two, (See screenshots)

I don't want dinner as we will not be getting to the hotel until gone 10pm.

What should I do?

Not sure what your question is. If the package you bought includes dinner, the price promise offer doesn't apply. Can't do anything about that as far as I can see.

    Love your graphics!

Goodluck with making a claim - I've never been able to get any company to honour a price guaranttee for a hotel - they always find some way of saying the bookings aren't exactly the same.

Forgive me for the thread-jack, but has anyone ever tried to claim their money back on the Premier Inn's "A great night's sleep or your money back" guarantee?

We stayed in one recently, and there was a lot of noise outside our first floor window. Someone revving a motorbike for ages at about 3.00 a.m. woke us up, and also several groups of passers-by, obviously the worse for wear and talking loudly, at various times in the night.

We were asked on checking out whether we'd had a good stay, and I said "well we didn't get much sleep due to a lot of noise outside", but the receptionist didn't offer to refund our money. I wonder now whether I should have asked for it, even though the disturbance was obviously beyond the hotel's control.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

out of curiosity, what browser/device were you using when searching? I've tried Firefox, IE and our tablet and don't get that view...the view I get lists that rate for that hotel for that period as
Sofitel hotel plus two-course dinner + Parking at the Hotel

And the price for price for

Sofitel hotel - special advance rate + Parking at the Hotel

on Holiday Extras is exactly what it is on the Sofitel website...so would have come up in your initial search, wouldn't it? cheaper option for same hotel and same parking.

agree though if the rate you booked includes dinner it's not a match.

If you click "Airport Hotels" and search from there (rather than search from the frontpage) you get the options listed by the OP. However, if you click the 'More Info' button next to the rate he booked it tells you that the rate includes dinner for two. So it is not true that this isn't stated anywhere in the booking process.

weird...I still get the normal list sort of view with the full detail in the title for each option.

Sometimes it's been offered to me and other times I've had to ask.

Not sure this is the right thread for this though!!

  • Why are you paying that much for 1 night stay and 8 days parking, it's way over the top, I can find plenty at under £100, Russ Hill £89 this is the one we use if we are flying from Gatwick has a 24 hr shuttle bus to airport and takes about 10 mins.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

it's connected to the airport itself, so that has value to some...we're staying at the Hilton for that reason (way, way cheaper in their current sale too but south terminal suits us better anyway)...just nicer not to have the faff of a shuttle no matter how quick it may be...plus if someone happens to be flying Virgin you can use twilight check-in a lot easier if you're staying at a hotel connected to the terminal building.

as for expecting a hotel to issue a refund due to noise from passersby...I would be embarrassed to even ask.

    1. because its ON AIRPORT. You dont need the hassle of shuttle bus.
    2. Its 5 star.
3 OP probably expected a full refund via the "best Price Guarantee"

With Holiday Extras, EVERY DETAIL needs to be the same.Only fair really. In this instance, clicking "More Info" would have revealed the dinner package.

Hope you took the cancellation waiver.

I got caught out with a stay at Manchester Airport Holiday inn.
My competing offer included Parking at the Holiday Inn. Holiday Extras deal, although dearer. the parking was off site
