Morning Ladies
Hope everyone is well and feeling positive.
At work and just finished a huge lunch (I’m on night shift so 2am is lunch time) and now I’m stuffed.
Today was four Sainsburys Crispbakes (152 cal), two tubs of EL Philly (66 cal) and a can of John West No drain tuna (68). Bloody delicious and under 300 cal. Far nicer than soggy sarnies – all that was missing was a twist of lemon and some black pepper.
Reading though it was me sad that people are getting angry with themselves for snacking – there is nothing wrong with snacking. Slim people snack – I think the difference is they have one of something and then stop. Because nothing is banned as such they don’t crave bad foods or feel deprived in any way.
I know if I deprive myself of snacks I will eventually eat everything in site (and then go out for more). I’ve also realised I feel better with four meals a day; otherwise I get too hungry so I normally have a larger 250cal snack as my fourth meal.
I’m trying not to snack on unhealthy foods - I’m not really big on fruits or veggies so most of my snacks are savoury type things, I like food to fill me up. I love bread so much; but have managed to happily swap the bread type snacks for crackers/crisp bread as they are lower calorie.
I’m also shocked sometime by how little some people eat- I know I’m a big gal but seriously, I was looking though some diaries of MFP and some people were having a piece of fruit for brekkie, a cup a soup at lunch and then fish and veggies for dinner and NOTHING ELSE!! That is not healthy surely? Most people need at least 1200 calories at day if they don’t do anything – once you start exercising you need more calories than that???
I’ve been on the weightless kick for 2.5 weeks only but in that time I’ve never craved anything? I’ve had a couple of “ooh I want chocolate moments” and given in to them, but also knowing I could have had something else instead IYKWIM (I’m enjoying 70% dark chocolate drops as that seem to effect my blood sugar less than normal choc) but never really craved the food?
Considering would normally eat four or five bars a day; often all crammed into the evening that’s pretty impressive. And I haven’t banned all snacks from my house either – my salad chiller in the fridge is full to the brim of chocolate and chocolaty lunch box snacks. My BF has them for lunch and evening snacks and it wouldn’t be fair on him to get rid of them.
Oh I read on another thread someone recommending avoiding all temptation – not having chocolate in the house, no taking money when you go out, no walking passed shops or vending machines. The thing is that temptation is always going to be there so surely its better to work with it than avoid it?? I want a healthy relationship with food and to me that isn’t normal??
Better get back to work now...I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0 -
Amy- yeah i totally agree with you in regards to being shocked at how little some people eat.
I generally dont listen to their advice, and try not to become friendly with them, as i dont think they could give healthy advice.
Well, its my TOTM, and despite not wanting to weigh i couldnt help myself this morning..i have GAINED 1lb!! But i wont be logging it as my 'true' weight as its most probably water retention.
Thanks for the advice re leaving the children at home whilst i do the C25K, i am pretty sure it'll be fine as they are both well behaved boys.
So, going swimming this afternoon, and doing my 1st C25K today too!0 -
Thanks for the posts everyone!
I think you're right about food intake, a very low calorie intake looks unsustainable. I am just looking forward to being one of those people who just eats "normally" at "normal" meal times with the odd snack if I feel like it, ie not consuming a whole pack of biscuits at a sitting and then feeling rubbish!
Am considering ways to lengthen arms - perhaps dangling from a tree for a couple of hours. Mind you with longer arms I will be able to reach more food on top shelves of supermarket. Will clearly have to give this some more thought....

Hi all,
Have been a little MIA - had family up last weekend which meant was out a lot and eating lots of unhealthy stuff, plus have been struggling a bit for motivation since. Will weigh properly tomorrow but had a little peek last night and think I've gained at least a pound
Am thinking about giving the Horizon 5/2 plan a go - at least perhaps for a few weeks to give me a bit of a kick start. 5 'normal' days and then 2 low cal - so think will try and aim for about 1500 on the normal days and then it was about 600 on the fast days. I know he was doing it in one meal but will try spreading out into maybe 2 smaller ones as I think otherwise I would be starving the rest of the day.
Sorry to hear some people are struggling a bit at the moment - know it's lack to really want to lose but just seem to have no will power for it0 -
I’m also shocked sometime by how little some people eat- I know I’m a big gal but seriously, I was looking though some diaries of MFP and some people were having a piece of fruit for brekkie, a cup a soup at lunch and then fish and veggies for dinner and NOTHING ELSE!! Im glad im not the only one who thinks this!!
I dont think eating like that is healthy or sustainable  I think people who do that probably crack and binge eat after afew days!
Im really hungry today despite eating well I think its because I have upped my exercise
Have a good dayO/S weight loss 2.5 /10lbs (11st 8.0- 08.02)0 -
I also agree that surviving on that little is not healthy nor sustainable. And we all know what happens when you starve yourself then eat normally again!
Well, today is a s*d it day. Just far too busy, tired and with waaay too many things going on to contemplate cooking. OH has gone to get fish and chipsHe cooked last night and has also been busy so night off it is!
After over 9 hours at work without a real break, I had to force myself to leave as I literally couldn't fit any more info in my head!
But I feel pretty upbeat and although this week has been 'bad', I think it's just a case of overall balance. By the end of next week things will calm down a little, so I'll be making time to exercise and will focus on eating more healthily.
I definitely don't want to crash diet or anything else. Every little change is a good one and I'm already much more aware of what and why I eat (not that it's stopped me this week, but it's a step!)
Good luck to everyone for tomorrowProud to be a moneysaver0 -
Well morning all! It's a lovely day here and I hope it is with you too.
Yesterday wasn't such a good day food-wise, the meals were good but I visited Lovely Mum and she plied me with pinot and chocolates, it seemed rude to refuse....still I managed to restrict myself to 2 chocs and one small glass so not too bad.
I'm taking her shopping today so we will undoubtedly have lunch out together so will have to choose carefully.
Good luck all!
