    :o Thank you all :o

I just feel a bit overwhelmed today and fed up. I really appreciate your kind words and support though. I shall keep going!

I do always weigh myself first thing, before I eat and after the loo, hence it was so sad to see the scales had gone up. It's probably psychological but I looked so lumpy & frumpy today. Even had a haircut at lunch (my first in 6 months!!) and didn't think it was that fab which no doubt adds to my gloom!

Tomorrow I will dust myself off, wear something I know is nice and style my new hair as well as I can, and carry on :D

    Thanks all xxx

GFN- have a hug ((((HUG)))). I am the same, i am a very big (literally!) emotional eater, and it ruins my weightloss plans everytime.

Is it your time of the month? I gain 3-4lbs on the week leading up to my period, so double check that, as it may well be water retention.

I really understand that last sentance you said 'I feel really rubbish about myself and feel like I don't want to be on a 'diet' when I could forget all about it and just have fun and eat everything I like, The Catch 22 is is SO want to lose the stone as all my nice clothes will fit again and I know I'll feel better about myself.
How do I drag myself out of it?'

I dont really know how to drag yourself out of it, i guess it depends - you could do something like a food/mood diary, in which you write down EVERYTHING you eat, and how you feel emotionally at the time. The aim is normally to identify what feelings/emotions are making you overeat, and then you can be more aware and come up with different tactics to avoid eating when you are emotional as opposed to actually hungry?

As for how to pull yourself out of it- you are not alone, dont forget that we are all here to help you (and each other), so if there is anything you need, let us know :)

Thank you WTB - so stupid but your kind words made me really emotional! :o

Sadly can't blame time of the month. I on the pill Cerazette and haven't had a period for years! No doubt there are some hormones still surviving in there, but not many!

Your suggestion about the diary is a really good one. Although I may not write it down, you're totally right that it is about being mindful and being aware of triggers. Eating for pleasure is wonderful, eating cr*p just because you feel rubbish is anything but.

I think I just need to 'reframe' how I see it all. After all, I'm not actually on a diet but just trying to adopt healthier habits and feel better about myself.

It's funny how it's all so emotionally linked.

Thanks again, I genuinely appreciate what you wrote and the kind support and words within :) It has honestly helped and I am going to work on adopting a new mindset about it all, which I think is the key really.

((virtual hugs)) in return :) xxx

GFN123 - we all have awful days when nothing seems right, clothes that fit a couple of days ago are suddenly too tight, our hair won't go right and the world just hates us. That's why you have us to cheer you up and help you on *hugs* Time of the month affects me as well as my mood - depression and bored lead me to want to eat the wrong things. I have found, though, that the food diary on myfitness has helped no end as I know there are folks that can see what I have eaten hehe

I have had a bad day today as it was my eldest daughter's birthday yesterday so we had a big birthday meal and huge chocolate cake today. I think I am going to explode! Definitely going to be doing some exercise before bed.

Have a great evening people and remember it's just one day - tomorrow we can start all over afresh!

Omg this is so true with myself! I desp want and need to lose weight and have the best intentions to start "tomorrow" and then I'll get stressed at work or back at home and reach for the chocolate! I don't buy it for the house but still end up going to the shops!
I'm getting quite down that I don't have time to excercise use which is what gets the weight off with me (and it also makes me feel good) so no exercise makes me feel even worse, and leads me to chocOlate again!

It's a vicious cycle I'm finding very difficult to break and my life is wasting away being down and upset about my weight that I refuse to go out on girlie nights (I just leave early upset) and hate shopping (which I used to love!)

Anyone got one of this magic wands they can just wish away 4 stone?

Sorry for anyone that feels bad today. I am the biggest comfort / boredom eater ever. And I have never succeeded on a diet before ever. This is really my last change saloon.
I have a lot (8 stone) to lose - and I know it won’t be quick so I need to be happy with what I’m planning. I couldn’t and wouldn’t last long on anything too restrictive.

    What I’ve found helps for me is;

Eating regularly. Trying to have a meal or decent snack every four-five hours so that I never get hungry / weak feeling. I work funny shifts and if I don’t plan/remember to eat I can skip meals easily (resulting in binging when the hunger catches up with me) so I am really trying to plan healthy snacks. My current fave is a pot of EL Philly, two Sainsburys Crisp Bakes and a small tin of tuna (in brine) comes in under 200calories and is filling and yummy.

Eating breakfast – or something within the first hour of getting up. Apparently it kick starts your metabolism, but it also seems to get me in a routine of eating regularly spaced meals. If I’ve got time I like porridge, but another fave is yoghurt, oats and berries. I’ve I’m flying I’ll just have a piece of wholemeal toast with marmite.

Not thinking I’m on a diet - I’m just eating better with the plan to lose weight. This involves trying to stick to a decent fixed calorie amount (atm 1640) and eating what I want within that. Having a finite amount of calories means I do plan better and find myself choosing lower calorie food just to get more in. A big part of this is portion size – I eat huge man-size portions and I need to cut them down.

If you want something - have it. If you are craving chocolate, a carrot baton won't have the same effect and you'll end up so focussed on chocolate you’ll either eat far too much or at the least be miserable.
That said I am trying to be clever. If I really want chocolate often I’ll have slice of wholemeal toast with one pot of chocolate Philly. Calorie wise its only just under a bar of dairy milk but because of the wholemeal toast you end up fuller/satisfied for longer. (One small pot of Choc Philly will do two slices of toast but spread thickly on one feels so indulgent.)

Only 2.5 weeks in so obviously not a big success story but I’m happy with what I’m doing.
I’m losing so far, I get to eat dinners with my BF (Sausage and Mash this evening) and I don’t feel deprived.
I think half the battle is finding a plan/routine that works for you.
I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler

Hello! can I join in, please? I only want to lose one stone so it should be easy, right? (er, apparently not!)
I visited my lovely Mum yesterday and we sorted through some old photos, some of which showed me looking really slim. They were about 25 years old, (I'm now 50) but I remember how easy it was to buy lovely clothes that looked good, how I could run upstairs without collapsing at the top, and not having a roll of flab that I can rest a cup of tea on when I sit down! Oh happy days....
    So the plan is:
1- follow that clever advice from Paul McKenna (thanks G&B!) and not eat just because I'm bored, restless, waiting for tea to finish cooking...
2- ignore all the cakes/biscuits brought into work practically every day by my kind(?) colleagues, replace with fruit/healthy snacks..
3- cut down on the booze, (oh merlot, merlot how i love thee..)
4- move more. I'm quite active already but much less than I was when those dratted photos were taken.
So, here goes, I' m going to weigh myself now.
    Good luck everyone!
    Love,
    LD xx

If you wish away my 3 stone I'll wish away your 4 stone :o

It is difficult but I suppose I'd rather take my time and it doesn't go back on this time.

Did anyone see Horizon: Eat, Fast and Live longer? Only watched half of it so far but very interesting programme.
